Viator Voice: December 10, 2018
The days are growing darker and colder. In this second week of Advent, we give thanks for two candles that push back the darkness and remind us that the Light of the world is coming.

Santa's Workshop ~ December 17, 18 & 19
We are Looking Forward to the Christmas Fine Arts Festival ~ December 19th!
- Quiet, reverent entry into our Church. Of course, no food or drink, outside of water.
- There is a videographer and photographer so that you can remain in your seat and enjoy the show without looking through the lens of the camera. Children should be dressed as directed by their moderator or teacher.
- Arrival at 5 pm. This year, students will be sitting with their parents by performing group in an assigned area and will be called up when their group performs.
- Performance begins promptly at 5:30 pm. The handbells, choir, band, and school children have been working very hard on their music selections. Since the program is scheduled to be approximately one hour; everyone will want to stay and watch the entire performance.
8th Grade Campus Ministry
By Andre Oen, News Editor
Photos, Rosy Hartz, Campus Ministry Director
As a new student at St. Viator, Campus Ministry is a new experience for me. I enjoy how everyone can talk about a certain topic and how we then do an activity related to it.
For the November retreat, we talked mostly about distractions and a few ways to avoid or limit your distractions. Our classes came up with the same distractions like social media, video games and family. We did puzzles in groups. It was sort of hard because we had some distractions while doing it. Mrs. Hartz talked to us about it after and then told us to start writing different types of distractions we have on the back of the puzzle pieces. After a few minutes we tried to redo the puzzle but all of the puzzle pieces were upside down. This was even harder and a few groups had a lot of trouble completing it. For the last activity, each group made and presented a poster of ways to limit and or avoid our distractions.
Overall this Campus Ministry day was really fun and really made me think about my distractions. I like Campus Ministry days because I think they help everyone think. Also, it gives us a break from the regular school day to reflect on issues that students deal with and how our faith can help us deal with those issues.
Premerrily Christmas
NJHS New Fundraiser!
By Jayden Licanto, Entertainment Editor
Christmas cards are a great way to show someone you care about them and a great way to show school spirit.
The National Junior Honor Society is planning to sell Christmas cards to celebrate the holidays. This is a new fundraiser that was created this year; it is the first time NJHS is selling Christmas cards at our school.
Cards will be sold from December 10th to the 18th. They cost a dollar each, and you can buy them before or after school.
The money will be going to NJHS, so we can repair the costumes for St. Lucy and St. Nicholas; we’ll also be using the money to buy handouts to give the kids for St. Lucy and St. Nicholas. We’ll also use the money to update the Stations of the Cross costumes.
It will be similar to the Valentine grams, but instead of lollipops, there will be a candy canes on the card. This is a fun and festive way to get your friends a delightful treat for the holidays.
On the card, is a short story about the meaning of the candy cane. It is a pleasant reminder that Christmas is about Jesus and his birth.
You can get them at the table near the office or near the first grade classrooms. We have a limited supply, so you should buy some before they sell out. We look forward to seeing you there.
