Propositions C&S
A Message from Dr. Cain
Good Morning,
This week we will begin sharing information about Propositions C&S at staff, PTA/PTO, booster and community meetings.
PROPOSITION C is a $105 million no-tax-increase bond issue to build a new middle school on the same site where the District is currently building a fourth high school, to expand and renovate the District’s three existing middle schools, to address maintenance issues at existing buildings and purchase items related to school safety.
PROPOSITION S is a $0.49 tax levy to address staffing and provide needed support across the District, improve salaries to address widening wage gaps between the WSD and neighboring school districts, and to update and add safety features across the District.
Information about the propositions can be found on the District website and it will be updated weekly as we approach the election on April 7. Included is a Frequently Asked Questions document, which will be updated as we field new questions from stakeholders. We have also prepared a “Dos and Don’ts” infographic and Talking Points for you so that you are confident to answer questions you may receive about Propositions C&S. Of course, if you ever have a question you are unsure how to answer, please reach out to our Community Relations Department for assistance.
If you live in the District and you are not a registered voter, we encourage you to do that. The deadline to register in order to vote in the April election is March 11 and the registration application can be found on the St. Charles County Election Authority website.
Finally, I would like to say thank you. Thank you for all you do for students each and every day in the WSD. You see and feel the effects of the District’s growth, and we are aware and appreciate that you do more with less every year. Props C&S are an effort to address shortfalls and provide you and our students with additional support.
Together, as a team, we will continue to move this great District forward.
