Great Learning Experiences are Happening in 2nd Grade

Students are working on reading comprehension. They will be using multiple types of literature to discover the 5 W's (Who, What, When, Where, and Why) of a piece of writing.

Students are also toning up their skills of Geometry. They will be creating, building, and presenting the facts about different geometrical shapes.

Project Updates

Students are interviewing their professional community partners. I love how many of them are dressing up and really taking this serious. Once all the interviews are complete students will begin the process of applying their new information to their own goals for the future.

The school will not be purchasing yearbooks for each student this year so make sure you get your order form in. Order forms are due this Wednesday.

Our Goals

Language Arts

I can build on what other people are saying by linking comments together. I can ask and answer questions about a story to help clarify my understanding

Math

I can identify the different geometric shapes and determine the difference between a2D, 3D, slide, flip and turn. I can also determine what is a polygon.

Science

I can use simple machines to make a job easier.

Social Studies

I can read fact about great people and apply what I've learned to my writing.

Logging into Students Accounts

If you would like to see all the hard work your child does at school you can login to their Google account or their Itslearning account from home. Considering winter is just around the corner this is very important to learn how to get around the Google world. Plus this is a great way to help your child. I'm sure they would love to share what they are learning!

Here is the pattern

first two digits are the child's graduating year (which for 2nd graders is 26)

then their last name and first initial

For example 26brillr (some of these have different variations if the last name is a common name)

Their passwords pattern

Thier six digit student identification plus bcsc

All of the 2nd graders know their regular passwords for the other apps and learning tools but if you need help please feel free to text me on Remind101.
