Inspiring Tomorrow's Innovators, Today!
February 14, 2021
Notes from our Director
Hello DATA community,
Happy Valentine's Day! We hope all are staying safe and warm today!
North East ISD has been monitoring local weather reports carefully and has determined that in-person school will not take place tomorrow, Monday, February 15. Instead, NEISD will transition to asynchronous, virtual learning on Monday. Teachers will work remotely and students will work asynchronously via teacher-provided lessons. Teachers will be available throughout the school day electronically and all lessons will be posted for students in Google Classroom, Teams, or other platforms used by their teachers. Attendance for asynchronous days will be taken when students log into the NEISD Launchpad and complete the assignment provided by teachers for the day. If students have any trouble accessing the work, they should reach out to their teachers via email or the learning platform for that teacher. Further updates will be communicated through our website at neisd.net and social media channels, as well as on local newscasts.
We need your help with submitting photos for our yearbook. Students in grades 9-11 who missed Lifetouch last month may now submit selfie portraits directly through our yearbook company until Feb. 28. Selfie portrait site
Students in grades 9-11 will use their ID number to log in. The site will automatically launch your camera on your device to take your picture. So make sure you are ready! Pictures taken outdoors are coming out great! Guidelines: must be in NEISD dress code, good lighting, neutral background, no other people or pets in picture, head/shoulders shot (no hands in picture) There will be some drawings for prizes at the end of the month for people who participate.
Course Selections for next year have begun. Mrs. Lockamy will be meeting with the freshmen this week via zoom in their English classes. Remember, the TR course card, the DATA pathway and electives, plus the course catalog links are all located on slide 5 in Mrs. Lockamy's Bitmoji Counselor's Information, if students want to take a look and be prepared for the meeting. If students want to make changes to their selections, we would ask that those changes be communicated with Mrs. Lockamy by March 5 as we plan and prepare for next year.
Thank you for reviewing the many details and reminders included below. Please continue to stay safe. If you have specific questions, please feel free to reach out.
Stay well, warm, and safe,
Lori Murach
