Principal’s Message
I am sure this has been a difficult week for you as parents as we all process the news of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. You may also be struggling to know what to say to your children. I am attaching a resource to this newsletter that I hope you will find helpful.
As Dr. Lubelfeld mentioned in his email to you this week, North Shore School District 112 participates in a statewide school safety program called Safe2Help Illinois. The program offers students a safe and confidential way to share information that might prevent suicides, bullying, school violence and other threats to student safety. Safe2Help Illinois has a 24 hour helpline (1-844-4-SAFEIL), a mobile app and a website (www.SafeHelpil.com).
In addition to Safe2Help, District 112 also has Text-A-Tip. This 24 hour service is completely anonymous and staffed with local counselors to support students who have a concern or a crisis. Text 224Help to 1-844-823-5323.
Please see the email from Dr. Lubelfeld for a list of the numerous safety measures that are in place at each NSSD 112 school.
In partnership,
Mrs. Bellini
Memorial Bench
This week we unveiled the memorial bench for former Red Oak Paraprofessional, Ms. Maria Román. The bench was made from the 600 pounds of plastic we collected in the fall. Thank you to all who joined in the effort! If you are visiting Red Oak, you will see the white bench in front of the school. Ms. Román will be forever remembered at our school.
Field Day Fun!

Youth Track and Field Event
Highland Park High School and The Park District of Highland Park will be once again hosting a three day Youth Track & Field Event. On the first two days, participants will learn about track and field events from Highland Park High School Track and Field coaches and athletes. These two days will give students a chance to learn and practice different events including sprints, hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, distance events, and relays. The final day the children will compete in a Track & Field Meet! Students are welcome to attend any or all three of the days. It is strongly recommended that at least one practice day is attended if competing in the meet.
You can register at www.pdhp.org .
