PBL Spotlight
April 2016
Monthly publication by Hutto ISD highlighting district projects that exemplify PBL Gold Standards.
April Spotlight Standard: Sustained Inquiry
The gold standard, sustained Inquiry, is a primary part of Ray Elementary 5th graders PBL project where they are answering the question "How can we, as scientists, test, analyze, and compare different water sources in Hutto and communicate our findings to the public?" Students are taking water samples from various sources and testing them for several chemicals and minerals. Students are collecting data, analyzing results, and investigating the effects of what they found in the water. Groups will present their results by writing a newspaper article, creating a news video, making a poster, or creating a powerpoint to explain what they found in the water and if it has a positive or harmful effect on people who use or drink the water.
