Tamanend Connections
We Are Together Tamanend!
April 22, 2013
Ahhhhh Cappella!
On Saturday night, choir students from all five CB middle schools came to Tamanend to work with the 5 O'Clock Shadow, an A Cappella group out of Boston, to learn more about this performing art form. At the evening concert, all middle school groups performed. Both the Gold'n'Blues and Tamanend's Chorus wowed the audience! Following the student performances, it was a treat to hear the amazing voices of featured performers: Off the Beat from University of Pennsylvania, and 5 O'Clock Shadow. All of the music teachers and students involved in the A Cappella Festival here on Saturday are to be congratulated! Our Tamanend students' leadership and hospitality throughout the day was commendable. It was a proud night for Tamanend and a great event for everyone!
One School, One Book
We found one more way to be Together Tamanend! As you know, each summer students are assigned two books from the summer reading list. This summer, for one of those assigned books, everyone in our school will read the same book so we can all discuss it and use its themes through the 2013-2014 school year. To learn more, go to our One School, One Book page linked below.
TMS Barbershop Quartets
Tamanend participated in the Youth in Harmony Barbershop Quartet competition last week sending two quartets. We are so proud of both teams for their dedication and and hours of practice. The Tigertones placed third in the competition and The Band of Barbers were the champions! Congratulations to all of the participants for their amazing performances!
Swipe It or Type It!
When students purchase breakfast or lunch items from Aramark, they need to either swipe their ID code or type it into the key pad. Last Friday, students again received cards with their number and bar code for this purpose. This is the week that students will need to learn their number or remember to bring their cards when purchasing food. After this week, students will not be allowed to ask the Aramark cashiers to look up their number for them. It is against the rules… not Tamanend or CB Rules, but PA State Auditor rules. So remember... swipe it or type it in order to buy food at school. The good news is that this will help our lunch lines go faster!
