A CONSERVATORY PREP NEWSLETTER
WEEK ENDING 9/23/2016
This past week students learned how to fill out an application form and met with a professional headhunter and business person for mock interviews. This was a great opportunity to find out what employers are really looking for.
Tuesday morning at 9:30AM the Florida Institute of Technology will be visiting our school to meet with our students. A very good opportunity to learn about a college with a diverse curriculum.
On Tuesday we will have our first chess club meeting during lunch. If anyone has a chess set hidden away in a closet, please consider donating to the school.
Friday morning a representative from the Fathom Adonia will be meeting with families going on the trip to the Dominican Republic October 23rd. There is still space available.
Friday we will have Conservatory Prep's version of Homecoming, planned by the National Honor Society. Looking forward to a great afternoon.

Students start working on value and continue progressing with their drawing skills.
In Biochem students were figuring out how the scientists calculated the total flow rate of the Deep Horizon oil spill using a hands-on activity where they collected data and interpreted through math skills.
Our first bring your pet to school day. Claire, brings her 7 y.o. Romeo to experience a day at Conservatory Prep.
Learning how to create parabola out of string. This hands on lesson coincides with the Kahn Academy Pixar in a Box program, which demonstrates how math is used in animation.

Studying Conditional Probability calls for work with fractions. Warm ups help with a needed review.
Latin I students created a map of Ancient Rome.
In addition to using a bicycle wheel to help us better understand repeating patterns, our warm ups help us to reinforce the idea of working with patterns.
Middle School students crocheting for a cause. They have been busy creating hats for newborns.
We are continuing our exploration of into the woods and have started using the track which is a big challenge since Sondheim is so difficult and the students are doing great.
We are also learning about time signatures in music theory
Our volunteers are learning computer skills to help them assist in the classroom.

Breakfast with a representative from Fathom Adonia
As we get ready for our cruise to the Dominican Republic, a representative from the ship, Fathom Adonia, will be coming to Conservatory Prep to discuss with us what we can expect and answer any question you may have. There are still a few spaces if you would like to join. This breakfast meeting is open to all students and parents.
