Lake Agassiz Houses!
HOUSES have begun at Lake Agassiz!!
Dear Parents,
We are so excited to announce that we have launched a new initiative aimed to help enhance the climate and culture of our school. Our school is now implementing the “House System” in which every student and staff member takes part in creating a strong community of learners. Through this initiative, each student has been sorted into a House. These Houses have students of all grade levels in them as well as a variety of staff members. Students and staff work together throughout the year to build strong bonds and relationships that will allow them to feel more connected to our school. Our goal is for students to feel as if they truly know all the staff and students in our school and that we are united as one. Each House represents a specific character trait and will work together to represent their trait with pride. Houses meet throughout the year to participate in team bonding activities, work on character trait development, and complete special projects together each and every Tuesday at 1:35 pm. Students will also be earning points for their houses through the individual mini moments they receive. Points are a way that we will be reinforcing the positive behavior that our amazing students show. At each rally, we hold friendly house competitions between all the houses to earn immediate points.
- Now that ALL students are included in one of our Houses, ask your children. what house they are in.
- What is their House chant?
- What is their House's focus word'?

Online Kindergarten Pre-Registration Now Open at Grand Forks Public Schools
Grand Forks Public Schools has opened kindergarten online pre-registration for families.
Children who will reach the age of five before August 1, 2022 are eligible to enter kindergarten.
For links to required forms and additional information that will be needed at registration, please visit https://bit.ly/2022KClass.
The online pre-registration, available at https://bit.ly/2022KPreRegistration, captures student information so the school can begin student enrollment processes. This will minimize waiting time at registration, which will be held later this spring.
The elementary school boundary line map can be found at https://www.gfschools.org/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=10181&dataid=16384&FileName=Elem_School_Boundaries_2021.pdf
Are you up for volunteering at dismissal time?
Get Ready for Our Next PTO Fundraiser..
Right now, parents have the opportunity to sign up to participate in this fundraiser via a google form HERE (or paper form in your child's communication folder, if you wish). Families that commit to helping will choose a pickup date and time and be on their way to raising funds for our school!
Our current goal is to have our new concrete playground slab poured this spring/summer. Thank you for any help you can give!
Notes from the Office
Student Absence: If your child will be absent or late, please call our attendance line at 701-746-2277
"Sunday News": Each Sunday, families will receive an email from the Lake Agassiz office with any reminders for the upcoming week. We will only update you on things for that week. It will be short and sweet, but hopefully helpful for busy families.
Report Cards
Parents Lead
Talking openly and honestly with your kids is one of the most effective ways to support their
behavioral health. Whether it’s everyday topics like friends and school, or more serious topics like substance use, anxiety, or depression, it’s never too early to start the conversation. As your kids grow, your conversations may change, but they will always be centered on keeping them happy, healthy, and safe. Keep your conversations relaxed, friendly, non-judgmental, and genuine. And most importantly, be a good listener.
