Edna Folger Outstanding Teacher
Congratulations FCCLA Adviser Karen Nading! Karen, who teaches at Columbus East High School and is part of the C4 Columbus Area Career Connection, received the 2019 Edna V. Folger Outstanding Teacher Award on Thursday at the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting. She teaches family and consumer science and is the sponsor for the local chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. Her teaching career spans 42 years.

Indiana FCCLA summer camp will be June 12-13 at Vincennes University. Students will experience FCCLA leadership opportunities and college life through the camp.

Middle School Teachers: Help your students apply for the Young Scientist Award
The annual 3M Young Scientist Challenge invites students in grades 5-8 to submit a 1-2 minute video describing a unique solution to an everyday problem for the chance to win $25,000 and an exclusive 3M Mentorship. Ten finalists will be chosen for their passion for science, spirit of innovation and ingenuity, and effective communication skills.
Six Key topics are strongly related to the unique skill set in Family and Consumer sciences and include:
Improving Health
Improving Safety
Improving Connectivity
Improving the Environment
Improving Energy Consumption
Improving the Community
Going to Nationals

Taking Down Tobacco
Educate students in your classroom while earning money for your Chapter
FCCLA and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) are encouraging chapters across the nation to get involved in life-saving advocacy as we work together to Take Down Tobacco and #BetheFirst tobacco-free generation! The first 25 chapters receive 100 dollars.
Nutrition Training Grant Workshop - Wednesday April 24th
Register today to be part of the Nutrition Training Grant Workshop. This workshop is funded by the USDA Team Nutrition Funds. This new curriculum (Forecasting Your Future: Nutrition Matters) was intentionally designed to maximize student learning and interest by integrating life skills and partnership activities with experiences in school nutrition. As part of this project you will receive resources to implement in your schools.

Please confirm that your students are attending the National Leadership Conference. The link below lists all qualifiers and alternates. Place a yes by each group's name that is planning on attending. Qualifiers must notify the state (Yes or No) by April 8 at noon. This will allow adequate time for alternates to make plans. Additionally, as soon as you know, please complete the form.
