HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 7 - 4 September 2020
FROM GEORDIE
What a fantastic morning to celebrate our dads!
Can I please start off by giving a huge shout out to our P&F and Year 5 parents for the planning and organisation that went into this morning. Many changes had to be made and some at short notice, however, the end result was awesome and a lot of fun. A huge congratulations to all the dads who participated in the Tug-O-War event against our Year 5 and 6 students - a well fought out victory!
I would also like to say a huge thanks to our Year 1s who entertained us this morning with their Father’s Day Assembly. Well done to Trish and Kaity for preparing the kids and helping to celebrate all the significant men in our students' lives… It is probably a good time to address the elephant in the room however, and also acknowledge the Mum’s who seem to have missed out on the accolades this year due to COVID. Our event planning seems to have gone from Dad’s Campout to Father’s Day, so thanks to ALL the wonderful parents we have in this community, it is a special place to be a part of!
Our assembly structure seems to be working well and I thank the parents for their vigilance and understanding with the rules (1 parent for each child in the assembly - from 8.45am in the gym). Next Week we look forward to the Pre Primary Show!
Last Tuesday we had all our families come in to chat to teachers in our Parent Interview Night. It was fantastic to get the opportunity to catch a few faces I had not seen in a while and anecdotally parents enjoyed the feedback they received. A huge thanks to our teachers for their hard work and planning to make these discussions worthwhile and valuable. I will also create and send a survey next week to gauge how useful you felt the information and get any suggestions you might have for the future.
On Friday 18th of September we will be holding our HR School Athletics Carnival for PP to Year 6. Students have been busily preparing for the day in their sport classes and we welcome parents to attend the event. As usual we will start as one large group for the sprint races and then our junior students will split off and go to the Junior Oval to complete their carnival. We welcome parents to attend and will set up the hill for you to watch from. Can I please ask that parents adhere to good social distancing practices and also do not move over into the student tents. More info will come out soon!
Finally, one of the suggestions that our Year 6 leaders took on board this week was for a student led activity centre on Fridays. A big thanks to our Faction Captains for organising this for our students who had a blast at lunchtime!
Have a great weekend and spoil all the Dads!
