ACP High School - Edition Vol 1 Issue 30
ACT Exam - Tuesday March 1st - 11th Grade Late Start Grades 9, 10 & 12
________________________________________
Hello. Where did February go? Not just February, but this quarter. I can't believe we have just 10 school days until spring break begins. Time flies! Please remember that Tuesday is a late start day for students in grades 9th, 10th and 12th due to the taking of the ACT by our 11th grade students. The schedule for the day is below. Please contact the office if you have any questions.
Can you say 3-peat?!?! Our Speech & Debate team can! They were crowned the Division II State Speech & Debate Champions at this year's state tournament bringing home the championship trophy for the third straight year! ACP's team is the best team in the state - regardless of division. It is amazing to see the kids compete and the talent they display in the various categories is impressive. Congratulations to all of the members of the team and to their coach, Mr. Rumsey on bringing the state title back to ACP - for the third time in a row!! Way to go! Individual results are listed in our Knights in the Spotlight section. Congratulations!
Unfortunately, we have seen a significant increase in unsafe student drop-off practices in recent days that have resulted in many near misses and putting students in harms way. Do not drop your child off along Brooks Farm Rd. and do not drop your child off immediately upon entering the drop off lane. This practice is causing many issues among drivers and students walking to campus. Saving a minute or two engaging in this practice isn't worth putting you, your child or other children at risk. If this behavior continues it will just be a matter of time before an individual is injured. Simply put, please stop. I do not have the staff to monitor Mustang Rd., Brooks Farm Rd., the drop off areas, and the general safety of the campus during peak drop off and pick-up times. I need everyone to do their part and follow established guidelines. While CPD has been asked to patrol the area and cite violators, the needs of the city often override this request. We must join together as a community to maintain safe practices and follow the rules. After all, every student deserves the safest school environment all day, every day. Your immediate attention is appreciated.
We have a fun week ahead with Mr. ACP and our MORP dance. Information about both events is included in today's update. I wish all our Mr. ACP contestants the best of luck in this fun and light hearted pageant. I look forward to watching our contenders compete Friday evening and I am excited to see the crowning of this year's Mr. ACP. Following Mr. ACP is our annual MORP dance on Saturday night. Information about MORP is included in today's update. MORP is always a fun, casual dance and I hope all of our students will consider attending. It looks like the weather will be fantastic for this dance so come out and enjoy time with your friends. STUGO has been working hard preparing for both Mr. ACP and MORP and I appreciate all they have done. Please remember that guest passes for MORP must be submitted by March 3rd. Don't forget to participate in Friday's Red & White Spirit Day too. Have fun, Knights!
Enjoy the final couple days of February. Remember to review your child's academic progress as we enter the last 10 days of the quarter, and please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week.
Rob Bickes
Principal

Please Make a Tax Credit Donation
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50.00 per family for a total of $57,500.00 and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
