Teachers will be awarding points based on the percentage of students that meet their personal math and reading test goals (based off district and STAAR results). Teachers will also be able to award points for behavior, effort, etc by filling out Anchored in Excellence forms.

Aides will be able to award points through Anchored in Excellence forms as well as cafeteria behavior.

Reading PLCs on Friday, October 13

During Friday's PLC, bring your low, medium, and high work samples from that week. These work samples should be the same assignment across the grade level, and you should decide this as a team ahead of time.

Conscious Discipline

Our Weekly Commitment: We will keep our bathrooms clean by throwing away our trash.

Classroom Tip: Morning Meeting is a great way to discuss the weekly school commitment. You can ask a different question each day like:

-What are the expectations for using the restroom?

-How do you feel when you walk into a messy restroom?

-How can you help keep our restroom clean?

-Why is it important for us to keep our restroom clean?

-What should you do if you see other students making a mess in the restroom?

From Your Captain

Your TTESS Goal Completion Date needs to be changed to May 8, 2017. Please do this on Monday as you discuss your TTESS Goals.

It's Outstanding Teacher Nomination time! Please email Mrs. Logan with your nomination for Outstanding Teacher of the Year. We will vote on these later in the week.

Round 2 of Triad Observations should be planned. They are due October 25 (for faculty meeting). Observations only need to last 15-20 minutes. Complete 1 observation for both of your fellow triad members. Here is the form that should print and use to record your observations:

Notes from Your Neighborhood Behavior Team

As we discussed in the Faculty Meeting this week, Connection is KEY. If you have students that are acting out, discouraged or refusing to work find away to connect with them. Whether it be with Family Circles, pairing them with another student that can help them, invite them to have lunch with you or with a group of students, assign them a job within the classroom that is not behavior based that will give them purpose and is an act of service for you. These are just suggestions but research shows connected kids will participate, we just have to find what works to get them connected to your classroom environment. If you need help with coming up with ideas for specific kids please contact someone on the Behavior Team; we are here to help!

ALISEN Partnership

Judy York and Lisa Cisneros will be on campus on Tuesday, October 10 for data collection. They will pop in classrooms to do quick observations several times during the day. You do not need to prepare anything ahead of time, nor do you need to make any explanations to the ladies when they pop in. However, it is recommended that you let your class know ahead of time that there will be visitors popping in.

District Tests **CHANGES MADE TODAY**

District Tests have been added to the Alta Vista Google Calendar.

Subtraction With Regrouping Video

Due to some common misconceptions about subtracting, we have made this short video to explain how to represent subtraction with regrouping using place value pictures. Please watch to make sure that you are building a valid foundation for subtraction for our students.
