Thank you for booking your party for May 16, Time 3 pm. Below is a bunch of handy info for you to refer to as you are planning, inviting, and preparing. Hold onto this message for reference, but know that I'm just a quick phone call or email away, so call if you have any questions.

May's Hostess special is an AWESOME deal! An additional $100 in free books once you reach $400. A $2 hostess fee and shipping charges apply, but when you are getting $ 170 or more free, who cares?

For every $40 a guest purchases, she can choose up to 3 of these deeply discounted titles. (They are even better prices than what I get as a consultant!) And she can choose three of the same one, if she wants.

How to Have the Best Party
Invite Lots of People!
Only about 1 in 4 will actually come, so you'll want to invite 40 people or more to get the ideal size of 10-12 people.
Some ideas:

- People who are grandparents, aunts, uncles
- People who work with kids (teachers, daycare providers)
- Everybody else!
Invite them Personally
Personal phone calls, texts, and emails are the best way to get a crowd. Feel free to use Evite and Facebook, but follow up with the individual messages. This really makes a difference; people feel like you want THEM to be there, because you take time to be in touch with them personally.
Most people will not RSVP unless you personally invite them.

Words to Use
Sometimes it is hard to invite people to a product party - even when the products are as awesome as these books. Take the time to explain to them why you thought to invite them. A sample:
"I'm having a Brunch for Books party with award-winning kids books. I thought of you because (of your kids, you are a book lover, your grandkids, I thought you'd like some time away from home, etc.) Would you like an invite?" This last sentence gives them an "opt-in" right off the bat, and most will tell you if they want to come or if they want to order.

Follow Up & Make your Wishlist
Let's face it: the age of the RSVP is over. Often, you'll need to touch base with your guests after the invite to find out if they are coming. Ask directly, "Can I count on you to be there?"
While you are doing all this, start dreaming! Which books are "must have" on your wishlist? What do you need in sales to get all those books for free or half price?

Collecting Orders
So your friends can't come, or your sister's in California? Here's how they can still get great books.
Take Orders: I'll give you a catalog and some order forms in your hostess packet. Take them with you wherever you go! Whenever anyone says they can't come, ask if they'd like to see a catalog. Imagine starting your party with $100-200 in orders! I'll give you prizes if you do!

Preping for the Party
Keep it simple. There is no need to have a full buffet; I've found most people forget about the refreshments because they are so busy looking at books! A few snacks and a beverage is plenty for most parties. If you need to serve a meal, consider ordering pizza or subs. Unless, of course, cooking is your passion, then go nuts!
Otherwise, all I need is a small table to put books on, and seats for the guests. We can sit on the floor, if that's your style, or around a table. It's your party, your way.

The Party
It will last about 2 hours. I'll do a short presentation, but mostly, we'll all just be there to have fun, chat with each other, and look at books. I'll consult with each customer and help them find books for everyone on their list. Those who order $75 or more will receive a special gift! Your guests will have 24 hours after the show to order. Follow up with your guests and send reminders with your link!
Time for Rewards
By the day after your party, I will let you know the total sales and what your free and half price book allowance is. You may choose to collect more outside orders to meet a free book goal, or you might be ready to get that wishlist ordered, pronto!
The Reading Continues
If any of your friends host a show you will get $20 in books for $5 at their show! If three friends do, you'll get any product, FREE! Encourage and ask your friends to book a show! And for those out of town friends: I do Facebook Parties!
