Personally, my students will be informed of the importance of internet safety during the first week of class. I intend to place quite a bit of my classwork online and even so, children need to know the dangers that lie in the deep web. Internet safety will include my students being careful of what website they are on as well as who they communicate with and give their information to. They should always be heedful of what information they put onto the internet.

Communicating Online
What Did You Say?
Online Communication does not weigh down to just speaking to another person online. The topic varies depending on the situation, and students must become wary of this when interacting on the world wide web. This does not mean that the internet should be avoided, only that you must be careful who you speak to and how you speak to certain people. The internet permits people with the opportunity to branch out and reach others that they may not have been able to reach through other means. This could range from family members to even famous writers or performers. It is important to keep in mind however, that while you can speak to just about anyone that you please, you must know the correct format in how to communicate with them.
Connecting With Others
The world wide web grants us the ability to be able to reach out to many that we may not have been able to before beyond other means. We are able to connect with others with the push of a button, and this is great!.... But keep in mind that not everyone is friendly on the internet. You have to be careful who you're speaking to. They may not always be who they say they are.
Working Together Online
Working together online can be beneficial to you and will be required in some classrooms. Some assignments will be placed online in a group, and students will need to know how to gather their teams information. They will also need to know how to speak to one another in a professional way.
Social Media
Social Media is a huge outlet for many nowadays and almost everyone has an account there. However, sharing your information freely isn't the best idea when it comes to these sites. Whether you think it's safe, private or not, people can get into your accounts and gather your information. Never post your whereabouts or any information that can be used against you on social media. Always be safe.
Oversharing - Digital Citizenship
This topic ties in with the importance of internet safety and also ties into quite a few digital literacy goals. Some of which are students having the ability to communicate and collaborate with others online as well as complete projects together online. Working together with fellow classmates and associates. It is also important to know that with social media, not everything needs to be uploaded. Always be wary of what you post!
Cyberbullying and Digital Drama
"No One Likes You."
Cyber Bullying is an electronic form of bullying where kids and even adults can be bullied by unknown assailants online. This is a serious issue, one that can have serious consequences depending on the outcome of the bullying. It is important that students know how to handle coming in contact with online bullying as well as how they shouldn't bully anyone online just as they would in person.
Bullying will not stand in my classroom be it in the classroom or online. My students will know to respect their peers as well as their teachers and in turn will treat others how they themselves wish to be treated. Any of my students that choose to cyber bully on our online assignments or bully in the classroom will be reprimanded.
Cyberbullying
Remember that there is always someone that you can speak with if you ever feel unsafe or bothered by something someone did or said. You're not alone. Everyone has been bullied or cyber bullied at one point. Keep yourself safe by reporting them, blocking them, or unfriending them.
