Listening to sounds and creating words!
Welcome North Brookfield Elementary School Families! We have been having so much fun with sounds and we would love to share some of our recent games. We have listened to and identified rhyming words and have tried to make some of our own! We listened to sentences and counted how many words we heard. We learned that two little words that make one big word are called compound words....hall way, hallway, story book, storybook, drive way, driveway! We listened to different words and counted the parts. Some people call these breaths or syllables..."hi" one part, "hello". Two parts, "helicopter" 4 parts.....we had to decide which word was the longest word....we have been listening to sounds that our letters make and blending them together to make a word.... /u/. /p/. Up!
Please keep reading about us...we love to share what we have learned....You just played a few fun phonological awareness games!
