Happy Teacher Appreciation Week
Seven Things Most People Don't Know About Teachers - By AJ Juliani
Getting a Substute
We have worked as a district to improve our substitute teacher availability by adding to the number of days that each person can sub each month, and raising the pay options for them. Here are a few things you can do to help out in this area. First and foremost "own" your absence. If you are going to be gone, you are responsible for getting the necessary paperwork done and finding a substitute. Make sure your FAVE Five is updated to reflect your first 5 choices. If you are looking for someone to contact, please connect with Courtney as she has phone numbers for each sub.
As a reminder, sick days are broken down into quarters:
1 period is 1/4 day (.25)
2-3 periods is a 1/2 day (.50)
4 periods is 3/4 day (.75)
5-6 periods is a whole day
Personal Days are broken down into halves:
1-3 periods is a 1/2 day (.50)
4-6 periods is a whole day
Subbing during your prep:
30 minutes and over = Full Hour pay
29 minutes or less = 0.5 Hour pay
Please make sure you put your absence into AESOP if you are gone for anything, including after school activities. If you have someone covering in-house, please select no sub required, and in the notes to administrator put who is covering for you. If you are filling out a time sheet for covering someone, please put who you covered, and the time you covered them. Also include your Employee Number on the form, which is found in Skyward.
Finally, just a reminder that whenever you leave the building during working hours whether it is 5 min or 5 hours early, make sure you sign out on the Staff Sign-out Sheet. As stated in the faculty handbook, the workday goes from 8:10 am - 3:45 pm with a 25 minutes per day which can be flex scheduled.
Happy National School Nurse Day Karen!
Get on the Bus Tour!
The preparations and planning for our bus tour are complete. Here are the logistics: We will begin boarding buses at 4:00 on Monday, May 14th. One difference this year is each bus will remain in one location instead of bouncing around to a few. We will have one bus at Settlers Park in Hanover, one bus at Sturges Park in Buffalo and one bus at Veterans Park in Montrose. While at the location, we will be grilling hot dogs and serving ice cream and water. We will also be playing bingo and kickball or other activities like tennis or basketball. I have spoken with a couple people on each bus to ask them to take the lead on one of the events. Please let me know if you have any questions, and a big Thank You for all that helped out in the planning of this event!
