News from Mrs. Drudy's Class
We exist so children can excel.
The Week at a Glance
Next week our class will continue our reading focus on poetry with a focus on limericks and alliteration. Be sure to ask your child about Bleezer’s Ice Cream by Jack Prelutsky and his or her own silly alliterative ice cream flavors.

Reflex Math
As I'm sure you've heard by now, all math groups are offering a banana split party to those students who master their multiplication facts. Great news! Our class received a grant to utilize Explore Learning Reflex, the world's most effective (and fun!) program for helping students master basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.
Your child has brought home the login instructions for in-home use for those of you who have Internet access. Since Reflex includes fun games, your child's siblings or friends may want to give it a try. It is important that other students not use your child's account. Reflex continually monitors student progress and adapts to each student's individual needs. Because of this adaptivity, having multiple children use the same account will have a negative impact on your child's progress. Click here to have your child practice those math facts.
Social Studies
car·tog·raph·er
kärˈtäɡrəfər
noun
a person who draws or produces maps.
Just ask your child. He or she is an official cartographer as we continue our long-range geography lap book project. This has been an efficient and fun way to address those all-important third grade map skills.
Cereal Box Book Report
By now, your child to be knee-deep in reading his or her book for the cereal box book report.
Click here for some examples of cereal box book reports. Just make sure your child comes up with his or her own idea and does not copy someone else's work. Here are some sample videos of students presenting their "commercials."
PTO Thank You
As you can see, students were given a classy T-shirt from the LES PTO. We slipped these shirts on just in time for today's pride rally. Please make sure that your child is wearing his or her shirt for the additional pride rallies as they are announced. Thank you PTO!!!
My Hero: As we study Veterans Day, we realize that the men and women who serve in our military are heroes to many of us. Who is your hero? What has he or she done to be an inspiration to you?
