November 11th is Veterans Day. We will be celebrating at AC Moore with a musical performance by our 4th and 5th grade students. You are cordially invited to join us at 8:15 a.m.
Please help us make this show special by sharing your Veterans with us! If you have pictures of your family members that are currently serving or have served in the past, please send photos to elise.helms@richlandone.org. Remember to tell us the name of the veteran and a family connection to AC Moore.
Save the Date! The Fall Book Fair is coming up October 31-November 4. You should have received a flyer this week with detailed information, but you can also visit our book fair website for information and find directions for setting up an eWallet account for your student to shop with.

On Friday, November 4th, in connection with Career & Vehicle Day, we will have the Blood Connection Mobile here at AC Moore. Teachers and parents will have the opportunity to donate blood.
To donate blood, you will need to pre-register using the QR code & Sponsor Code on the flyer below. You may select a time that works for you and your schedule. Thank you for donating blood and saving lives!
Bobcat Families--Please note that the neighbors directly across from the front of the school are having difficulties getting their trash picked up when vehicles are parked in front of their homes and along the edge of their yard. Your courtesy and consideration would be greatly appreciated in addressing their concerns. When visiting the school, please park in the visitors parking area at the corner of Etiwan Avenue and Rosewood Drive and along the street in designated parking spaces.

Assignments for COVID Related Absences
For the 22-23 school year, students that are absent due to illness will receive any missed and/or make-up assignments upon return to school. They will have 5 days to return the completed work to their teacher. This is in accordance with AC Moore's typical absence policy. Devices and extended absence assignments will not be sent home this year. Virtual check-in sessions with students will also not occur. Those practices and procedures were in place as a result of Richland One's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Important Carline Pick-up and Drop-off Reminders
In an effort to keep the carline safe for students and staff, it is requested that the following carline procedures be followed during the morning and afternoon carline.
- Please pull as far forward to the end of the carline (towards Rosewood Dr.) before stopping your vehicle to allow your student to enter/exit through the gate; do not stop at the main entrance to let students out of or into the car.
- Students are to get out on the passenger side of the carline only, not from the driver side, side facing the road.
- Parents should remain in the car and allow school staff to assist the students into or out of cars.

A Bobcat Congratulations to...
Rahini Chaudhuri, 1st Grader and Aintik Manna, Kindergartener
To help spread awareness on what to do if you encounter a bat, DHEC held a art contest for students in K-12. Two of our Bobcat students were selected as winners in the contest!
Rahini, a 1st Grader in Mrs. Frick's homeroom was the winner for the #BatWeek art contest in the first and second grade category. Rahini created a colorful storyline of what to do when a person is potentially bitten or scratched by a bat.
Aintik, a kindergartener in Mr. Wilcox's homeroom, is the winner for the #BatWeek art contest in the kindergarten category. Aintik illustrated the importance of vaccinations for people and pets following an encounter with a known or suspected rabid animal.
Red Ribbon Week
During Red Ribbon Week our Bobcat students pledged to lead safe and healthy lives! Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. It began as a tribute to fallen DEA special agent Enrique Camerena in 1985. Red Ribbon Week is the nation's largest and longest-running drug awareness and prevention program.
Bobcat Advocacy Day
On our half-day in October, your Bobcat student participated in their second Advocacy Day of the year. Our staff engaged students in lessons related to our Pillar of Leadership of Responsibility.
A.C. Moore Celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Ideas To Get Involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
HELP A CANCER PATIENT!
Every October since 1985, millions throughout the world get involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a campaign that increases awareness of a disease that afflicts approximately 1 in 8 women in the United States. The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it is detected early enough. This is why education and awareness are so important.
Over the last few editions of the Bobcat Blaze we will shared different ways you can become more involved in breast cancer awareness efforts during the month of October. Our last suggestion for getting involved in breast cancer awareness is to help a cancer patient.
Help a cancer patient!
- There are numerous ways you can help a loved one who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. You can help organize meal deliveries, rides, and other tasks to assist your loved one. You can help bring together the patient’s family, friends, and coworkers by helping support your loved one through an online social network and planner. CaringBridge makes it easy to keep everyone updated about your loved one’s diagnosis. Friends and family can stay connected and leave messages of love and encouragement.
