This Week
Homecoming
Yahoo, it's Homecoming Week! Annually, Homecoming is an important week for our school district and community. Many class reunions will be held, and alumni will return to West to see old friends and loved ones and cheer on the Trojans. It is our goal to ensure everyone has a fantastic and memorable time throughout the week.
The Dress-up Spirit Days begin on Monday, October 2. Monday is "'Merica Monday", and all students are encouraged to dress in red, white, and blue in honor of America. Tuesday, October 3, is "Too Old Tuesday". West ISD is going old school and encouraging our students to dress like they have reached one-hundred years old. Wednesday is "Color Wars Wednesday", and every grade level is set to wear a specific, individual color. Thursday, October 5, is "University Day". Students are encouraged to wear their favorite college spirit wear. Friday, October 6, is "Trojan Spirit Day", and, of course, all Trojans should wear the mighty black and red.
On Wednesday night, October 4, the Homecoming Bonfire is set for 7:00 PM at the Westfest Rodeo Grounds. This special night will feature performances by several student groups including music by the Pride of West Band and routines and cheers by the Dazzlers and cheerleaders.
The Homecoming Pep Rally is set for Friday, October 6, at 12:40 PM in the West Middle/High School Arena. Grades 4-12 will all take part in this fun event. The Lady Trojan Varsity Volleyball team will play on Friday at 4:30 PM against Whitney High School in the West Middle/School Arena. Both teams are at the top of the standings in District 19-3A. The Freshmen and Junior Varsity Teams will both play at approximately 6:00 PM in two of the West Middle/High School Gyms.
Also on Friday, the West High School Varsity Football team will play at 7:30 PM versus the Elkhart High School Elks. The West High School Student Council is ready to crown the Homecoming Court during halftime of the game. The Duchess nominees are Kennedy Eubanks, Katy Willis, Hallie King, and Trinati Montes. The Princess nominees are Lesley Carroll, Abby Kolar, Tia Kolar, and Gabby Warren. The Queen nominees are Jodi Kunkel, Mia Pokluda, Macie Polansky, and Caroline Roessler. The King nominees are Jacob Bates, Alfredo Perez, Jarek Rozyskie, and Trevor Scott.
We hope you will come out and help celebrate the great things that are happening in West. It is truly an exciting time to be a Trojan! Go Trojans!
