Dear Jaguar Families,
Welcome to May! As we approach the end of the school year I would like to take a moment to thank each and every family for their patience, perseverance, and support throughout this school year. We appreciate your unending support. I am humbled every day by our amazing students and it is my honor to work with each and every one of them.
As always, thank you to all families for their continued support of our teachers and staff. We appreciate your partnership. Please read through all of the important information below:
- Specials Selection-It is that time of year where you can select and/or rank order your Specials classes for the next school year. Please find the appropriate form below to help make your selection. The form will close on May 11th. Any students who do not fill out the survey will be placed into classes randomly. Current 8th graders will NOT need to fill out any forms.
- Welcome to 6th Grade-Our Open House for incoming 6th Graders will be Thursday, May 5, from 5pm-6pm. Information about this night went out to our feeder schools 2 weeks ago. Please see the video below welcoming our new Jaguars. In addition to meeting their teachers, students and families will be able to ask questions of the admin. and teaching staff. Pizza and drinks as well as Jaguar Spirit Gear will be available to purchase. Thank you to our wonderful Jaguar Booster Club for making this possible.
- High Honors-Next Wednesday, May 11, we will be hosting a movie celebration for all students who made high honors his year. Please join me in congratulating over 200 students who finished the year with a 4.0. This is a high accomplishment and we are happy to celebrate our hard-working students. Permission slips will go home this week for those families who DO NOT want their children excused from class to view the movie.
- Promotion-Our 8th graders will promote on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Here is the schedule for promotions:
- -9:30-10:00- Green-Cardona/Czechkowski/Polglaze/Rodeheffer
- -10:20-10:50-Green-Teran/Pruszynski/Andert
- -11:20-11:50-Blue -Freiwald/Alexander
- -12:10-12:40-Blue-Thorne/Griggs/Martin
- Career Fair-We are excited to announce our Career Fair has returned. This is a great event for our 8th graders and we appreciate all of our local businesses who have committed to being here and sharing their talents with our students.
- Last Week Events-Several teams have fun events planned during the last week of school. Please make sure to read the email blasts they send out in order to keep up to date.
- Teacher/Staff Appreciation-The first week in May is always Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Don't forget to thank your teacher and our staff for all of their hard work and dedication.

Specials Selection
Description of Classes
Strings/Band-The Strings class offers instruction on violin, viola, cello, and string bass instruments with a focus on the skills necessary for long-term success. Fundamentals stressed include proper posture and playing position, development of characteristic tone quality and training in music literacy.
Band offers the band experience at the beginning level. The instruments taught are flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, and percussion. No experience is necessary – only the will and desire to play an instrument. Musical topics are introduced such as reading, music notation, analyzing and evaluating music.
PE-Boys PE and Girls PE are offered
Media Tech-Students will learn how to use movie-making software and will write and produce their own movies. In addition, students will be exposed to various genres of film as well as camera angles/perspectives, scoring films, and intricacies such as how to include opening/closing credits and captions.
Computer Studies-Students will learn about digital citizenship and will dive into digital platforms useful and necessary for 21st Century Technology skills.
Art-Students will be exposed to various mediums and techniques including but not limited to watercolors, pastels, clay, pixel art, etc.
Music-Students will have the opportunity to perform, create, respond, and connect with music. They will learn to read traditional music notation and play various instruments. Throughout the course, there are opportunities for students to listen and analyze music. We will label music with its historical context and find ways to connect it to our lives now.
