Principal Note
It was another great week at Munhall! Students are definitely hitting their strides as routines are firmly in place, connections/relationships are being forged, and students are settling into the expectations of being a hard-working student. The beautiful weather the last three days has been welcomed, as our students are adjusting to 40-minute PE classes. Students continue to be reinforced for their positive behaviors, aligned to our ‘Mustang Way’ expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be a Problem Solver. Our staff has been handing out ‘Horseshoes’ to students or classrooms exhibiting these three target behaviors. It is a real motivator for our students! Keep up the hard work Mustangs!
i-Ready Fall Diagnostic Student Reports
Recently Munhall students in grades first through fifth took the i-Ready diagnostic assessments in reading and math. i-Ready is a diagnostic assessment tool that provides each student with a personalized pathway for learning. When students took the assessments they were presented with questions they were familiar with, and some that were more difficult for them. By doing this, students can now login to i-Ready and find personally assigned lessons under MyPath based upon their results. MyPath lessons are specific to each child’s strengths and areas for growth.
The individual student report for each child will be mailed Friday, September 10th. A link to the letter that will accompany the report is here, and the D303 i-Ready website with parent resources is here.
Open House/Meet the Teacher
We look forward to welcoming our parents and guardians into the building for an Open House/Meet the Teacher event.
Our K-2nd grade event will be Monday, September 13th from 5:30-6:30, while 3rd-5th is scheduled for Thursday, September 23rd from 5:30-6:30. To alleviate crowding in the classrooms, your child’s classroom teacher may organize a schedule that staggers arrival/departure times.
As we prepare to welcome parents and guardians into the schools for open house/meet the teacher, I want to provide you with important information that will help make this event run smoothly. The open houses are designed to provide you with the opportunity to meet teachers, tour the school, and see the classrooms. There will be Munhall staff at the main entrance, as well as throughout the hallways helping parents find their child’s classrooms. In order to maintain a safe environment for parents, guardians, and staff members, all attendees need to:
- Wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth regardless of vaccination status
- Avoid congregating in large groups while in the building
- Honor that this is a parent/guardian event only
Conferences are scheduled for October 7 and 8 and information about registering for a time will be sent in the near future. Parent/Teacher conferences will give you the opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns.
Fall Conferences
Fall conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 7th and Friday, October 8th. There will be NO School for students on these two days. Information about signing up for conferences will be communicated by the end of next week, at the latest.
PTO Meeting
Our first PTO meeting of the year will be Tuesday, September 14th @ 7:00 pm. The meeting is scheduled to be virtual. Attending PTO meetings is a great way to get involved, share creative ideas, and learn about the happenings of Munhall. I look forward to seeing many of you there!

Yesterday was fall picture day and the students really looked sharp! Our re-take day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13th.
