Do You Know about the Family and Consumer Science Department & FCCLA?
FCS/FCCLA
Mrs. Parker provided the Homemade Playdough and the Hot Cocoa recipes. She is also the FCS/FCCLA Sponsor.
Family and Consumer Science / Family Career and Community Leaders of America
FCCLA is about improving yourself, taking advantage of leadership communities, learning about opportunities beyond your city, getting to know others in your school and developing new friendships, serving others in the community, and focusing on improving relationships within your family.
The picture above of FCCLA is from the field trip to the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. FCCLA took 39 members and collected over 160 canned goods to donate to the Food Bank of Dallas. We fought the rain and traffic but had a great time being together and experiencing the Fair!

Americana Style Turkey
A More Spicy Turkey Recipe
Students in Kelly Grissom's physics classes have been in serious engineering mode of late. They are building and testing trebuchets or medieval catapults that require a lot of thinking, application, and problem solving. The official academic content involves projectile motion, utilizing skills of velocity, acceleration, and simple mechanics. There are three sizes: small, medium, and large. Ms. Grissom and company will soon conduct a competitive launch, so we will bring cameras and video gear to the event and keep you posted. Great work, Ms. Grissom & Students! Way to make academics less abstract and more hands-on and minds-on!
Helping Seniors Look Forward
I am a senior this year, and I thought it would be a good idea to add a new area to our school online newsletter - something that could be of help in terms of making plans for what comes next after high school. I, for instance, am thinking seriously about becoming a neonatal nurse, so I've researched that career path online and have provided videos and links below that I think will be helpful to students who are considering a career in nursing. In each Buckaroo Post issue, we will focus on a new area or two. I hope this is of help!

Special History of the BHS School Song
In case you missed this special feature from last month, please enjoy and share this video of Coach Pearce. He tells a unique and powerful story about BHS students who served in WWII in relationship to our school song, which does fit perfectly with the Spirit of Thanksgiving. Thank You, Coach Pearce!
