Step It Up Fundraiser Update
Our Step It Up fundraising is approaching its final days. Any family that was still planning to register online in order to send emails/texts should be doing that now. Any donations that were received in the form of cash or checks should be returned to Mr. Mosley by Thursday, February 27th. Checks should be made payable to "Rose Glen PTO". The pledge sheet that was the final page of the fundraising packet should be fully completed with the student's information and returned with any check or cash donation. The pledge sheet is NOT NEEDED for online donations; check, cash, and matching donations onley! Any company matching donations need to have the appropriate matching forms completed and brought to Rose Glen so they can be submitted to Step It Up Kids. Please contact us if you have any questions.
As our Step It Up Kids fundraising reaches its conclusion, we want to be sure families understand the procedure for prizes. If a family has more than one student and each of those students is signed up to do Step It Up Kids, the money amount raised by your family IS DIVIDED TO EACH OF YOUR STUDENTS. Each student will receive the prizes in the range that he/she fundraised, not combined with their sibling(s). If a family wants the higher level prizes, then the family needs to have all the money go toward one of their family members, and the kids share the prizes. Any family wanting to share the higher prize level must contact Mr. Mosley at jmosley@waukesha.k12.wi.us to let him know. Let Mr. Mosley know your family last name, the first name of each student and the class each student is in.
Please contact Mr Mosley if there are questions.

Too Sick for School??
Since cold and flu season is here, we thought it would be good to review the guidelines to follow when your child is not feeling well:
Fever: If your child’s temperature is 100° F or higher, keep him/her home. A child must be FEVER-FREE FOR AT LEAST 24 HOURS (without the use of fever reducing medication) before returning to school.
Nausea, Vomiting and/or Diarrhea: Your child should stay home until it has been at least
24 HOURS since the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea (without the use of Imodium). Practice thorough hand washing.
Head lice: Head lice are tiny insects that live on the heads of people. They lay their tiny white eggs (nits) on the hair shaft, close to the head. Unlike dandruff, they adhere tightly to the hair shaft and are not easily removed. They are not caused by lack of cleanliness. Head lice are easily transmitted from person to person - usually by sharing personal items. Please remind your children to always place their hat and scarf in the sleeve of their jacket. Also, NEVER share hats, combs, brushes and hair ties. If you notice your child scratching the back of his/her head or around the ears this could indicate an examination of the scalp for louse or nits (eggs). A child with head lice may return to school after being treated with a lice-killing product. Children should not miss more than one day due to head lice. Please refer to the link below for more information. Please feel free to call the health room with any questions or concerns ar 262-970-2415.
February Vanguard Update
Makerspace Curriculum Connections
This year each grade level is using the makerspace in new ways! We are connecting our makerspace projects to various subject areas from reading to writing to math to science and beyond. Students are also being exposed to some of our tech tools to stretch their learning. A few examples are:
First graders are using the blue bots to retell or sequence events in stories they read.
Fourth graders are making green screen videos of their learning in writing and science.
Fifth grade is using the ozobots to solve math problems using the order of operations.
Seeking donations!
In order to continue the wonderful learning opportunities we are providing our students through the makerspace, we are asking for donations of the following items:
Legos (new or gently used)
9 volt batteries (for our tech items)
Masking tape
Duct tape
Cottonballs
In our front office, there is a box labeled “Makerspace Donations” for your convenience. Students can also bring them in to their homeroom teacher. Thank you for your help!
Yearbook Deadline
If you are unsure if you already ordered, please call Lifetouch at: 414-755-0361
Please note that Rose Glen will not be ordering any extra yearbooks, so if you want one make sure to order before the March 16th deadine.
Six Flags
Six Flags Reading Program
For completing 6 hours of reading outside of school time students in kindergarten through grade 5 are eligible to earn a free ticket for Six Flags Great America. There is a NEW feature this year - electronic Reading Logs. Adults will register and log their child(ren)’s reading time into an online reading log directly on Six Flags’ website. Families will have the ability to track their child’s progress during the program. Also NEW this year is an extended program deadline of April 16th, leaving more time to complete the reading minutes.
Register using this link:
You will need the teacher code for each child that you register
There are no reading logs to return this year; everything will be done online. Tickets will be distributed by teachers in mid-May, once the tickets have been sent by Six Flags.
Please note: Six Flags does not allow 4K students to participate in this program.
Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Beth Anne Krahn, Rose Glen's coordinator for Read to Succeed.

Safe Arrival Attendance System
Pre-Excused Absences: If you know your child is going to be absent and you want to report that before the student is marked absent in school, Safe Arrival provides three convenient methods:
1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at https://go.schoolmessenger.com). The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
2. Use the SafeArrival website, https://go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
3. Call the toll-free number 1-866-490-7371 to report an absence using the automated phone system. These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week.
Future absences can be reported at any time.
Post-Excused Absences: If you were not able to report your child’s absence in advance you will be notified by the SchoolMessenger system if your child is marked absent.
You are notified of a reported absence within minutes of the reported absence.
The School Messenger app or the website will allow families to customize where they want to receive their notifications and allow them to excuse the absence right from the notification.
If you report your child’s absence in advance using the SafeArrival toll-free number, website or mobile app, you will NOT receive these notifications.
