MAP Testing is coming up!
Dear Parents,
It is almost that time of year again! 2nd Grade scheduled to take the MAP test beginning Monday, April 30th. In order to end the year positively, I wanted to send out a few reminders to help make this testing week go as smoothly as possible.
TESTING TIPS :
2. Get to school on time! Feeling rushed does not prepare students for success. We will begin at 7:45am.
3. Encourage your child to think positively and take their time! Too much pressure is stressful for young children!
4. Please remind students to NEVER discuss scores with other students. This can negatively effect other students.
5. If you chose to do some reviewing each night, please try make it fun! We do not want our young ones to feel overwhelmed before/ during testing!
A Peek at Next Week......
Here's what's coming up when we return from Spring Break...
Reading: We will be continuing our unit which focuses on describing the main idea of a story in detail, using evidence from the text and using the illustrations in a story to help us gain a better understanding of the story's main idea. We will test on Wednesday, April 25th.
ELA: We are continuing our writing unit on Narrative Writing! Students have started the planning process for our month long project where students will have the opportunity to write their own narratives! We will have grammar quiz reviewing commas on Tuesday.
Social Studies: We will continue our study of important people in Georgia history by learning more about Julliete Gordon Low. We will take a quiz on Friday!
Science: We will continue discussing landforms and learning about the slow and rapid changes that causes these landforms to change.
Math:
Mrs. Sanchez's Math: We will be finishing up area and perimeter and beginning our unit on customary and metric measurement. We will quiz on Friday over Area & Perimeter as a checkpoint.
Ms. Bentley's Math: Students will finish up measurement & graphing with centers and a review this week. There will be a quiz on Friday April 27th! Students can also complete a review on Study Island at home.
Ms. Minor's Math: We will be finishing up area and perimeter and beginning our unit on customary and metric measurement.
