Founding Parent Spotlight
Let's meet Chadwick & Monique Simon, the proud parents of Chase - a kindergarten scholar from the Terrific Transformers - Class of 2034!
- What attracted you to LSC? LSC is not just accountable to the scholars, but also to the parents and community. LSC has so much to offer - a strong curriculum that emphasizes STEM, smaller classroom sizes, & a diverse atmosphere. We chose LSC, because we wanted a new learning experience for our son - one that would prepare him for a successful future.
Why do you believe LSC is the best fit for your child? LSC is the best fit for Chase, because LSC has allowed him to fully maximize his learning abilities in ways that is obliging him to the classroom. He has excelled tremendously! Chase is always excited about learning, because his teachers keep him motivated - they make learning fun, unique, and give us strategies to help him at home have a better understanding of the concepts. LSC is big on showing how proud they are of their scholars in and out of the classroom. They push Chase and all the other scholars to strive for greatness.
What has your child enjoyed the most since attending LSC? Chase loves everything about LSC. I would say LSC is the place to be. There is always something fun going on, but Chase enjoys learning Spanish and going to his STEM classes the most. He loves his classmates. His two proudest moments have been being recognized at the weekly culture celebration, which was a big deal for him. Secondly, he loves gardening. He was so excited to take care of his seedling at home & watch it grow. It taught him to be responsible (learning is always involved). I can say Chase is happy to be an Eagle.
What would you share with those looking to be involved with LSC by donating time or resources? It's a donation that will carry on from generation to generation. You would be helping LSC to provide opportunities to our scholars & community that will aid them to have a chance at a brighter future. Think of it as a gift that keeps on giving
LSC Uses Project-Based Curricula
Expeditionary Learning (ELA)
Through a series of modules, each one in grades K-2 is comprised of two one-hour blocks of content-based literacy (Module Lessons and K-2 Labs) and the third hour of structured phonics (K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block). Together, these three hours of project-based curriculum teach and formally assess all strands of the Language Arts standards for each grade level.

LSC joins the Diverse Charter Schools Coalition

Founding Parent Spotlight
Let’s meet Teshia Thames and her first-grade scholar, Malachi from the Wondrous Woof Pack - Class of 2033!
- What attracted you to LSC? When I heard that we had a Charter School coming to town, I knew that this was his opportunity to learn new and better things. I have nothing against traditional public schools - I just loved the fact that LSC is a smaller school setting which my baby would do better in. And it was free, because I am a single parent and I dont think I could ever afford to send my kids to a private school. The Liberty experience is like going to a private school; so im very GRATEFUL that my baby got into LSC.
- Why do you believe LSC is the best fit for your child? LSC is the best fit for my child, because the school is smaller and he can learn easier. They hold the kids accountable and Im a strong beliver of kids knowing and understanding the concepts of school and how he/she should act while attending.
- What has your child enjoyed the most since attending LSC? Malachi says he enjoys going to his STEM classes, but he loves them all. He really loves the play ground. And he liked being the Scholar of the Week to get his golden shirt. He also likes meeting new kids.
- What would you share with those looking to become involved with LSC by donating time or resources? If you are willing to donate your time or resources to LSC, I would say it would be well worth your dollars or time. You won’t regret it. They definitely give back to the kids and community. I love this school and the staff.

Classroom Spotlight - The Wondrous Woofpack
This newsletter's Classroom Spotlight shines brightly on our 1st grade Wondrous Woof Pack. Under the leadership of Lead Teacher Emily Hatfield & Teaching Fellow Alexis Kelley, scholars in this class are growing their brains so much, recently learning about place value, shapes, time, and informational text and writing! The Wondrous Woof Pack has been implementing technology to engage scholars in reading & math actively. These scholars have enjoyed various activities on Zearn and BrainpopJr. to reinforce classroom instruction from their teachers as well as leveled reading time on Raz Kids.
Along with academics, the Wondrous Woof Pack is working hard each and every day to build a strong classroom community and to display the three core values of LSC (Power of Team, Growth Mindset, and Stand of Up and Own It). The Wondrous Woof Pack enjoys singing, dancing, reading books, and working hard! Each and every one of our scholars in the Wondrous Woof Pack has made so much growth and we cannot wait to watch them blossom in second grade! Keep up the hard work Wondrous Woof Pack!

Family Engagement a Top Priority at LSC
We had so much fun at our Spring Books & Blankets Family Engagement Event. A total of 135 families came out over two days to share in the love of reading as a family. Our friends from the Sumter County Library were on site with hundreds of books for families to pick from to read and to even check out. For families that didn’t have a library card, they could get one on the spot! The pizza and cookies were especially delicious. A total of 15,155 new words were added to our million-word reading challenge!
Founding Parent Spotlight
Meet Michael & Jamie Lotts, proud parents of founding kindergarten scholar - Henry from the Fearless Founders - Class of 2034!
- What attracted you to LSC? We were first drawn to Liberty because of their emphasis on science, technology, and math. We are both nurses and use these skills on a daily basis. Naturally, Henry has gravitated to those things as well, and we felt that by putting him in a school that focuses on STEAM he would be more successful and engaged in learning. We also liked that the focus on career and college starts early for scholars. With the job market and college acceptance being so competitive, we want Henry to have all the options available to him so that he can make the best decision for his future.
- Why do you believe LSC is the best fit for your child? LSC is a great fit for Henry because the school is small, and it really feels like a family. Every person we come in contact with knows Henry by name. It amazes us how much he has already learned and grown in kindergarten. He is learning Spanish, martial arts, reading, and so much more! We truly believe we could not get this kind of quality education in the public school system. We are also impressed by the relationships we have with our teachers and administrators. They really listen to parents and their concerns and it feels good to be involved in our child's education.
- What has your child enjoyed the most since attending LSC? Henry loves his classmates and his teachers. They truly care about him. He is really enjoying learning Spanish and his STEAM classes. Liberty makes learning fun for students. They work hard and play hard!
- What would you share with those looking to become involved with LSC (enrolling their scholar, donating time/resources, etc.)? LSC has been an amazing addition to our community. It gives parents another choice for their children when it comes to education. We feel blessed and honored to be a part of this wonderful school. We would and have recommended it to anyone looking for something better for their child. We are excited to be an LSC founding family and look forward to the years ahead!
