Princi-Val notes...
(5) Week of September 4- Sept. 8, 2017
Faculty Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5th
*On Thursday, Sept. 7th, our school has been asked to host the high-ability coordinator's meeting for the IDOE. Around 175 people will be in our building for the day. We will be using either the gym, for this event. They wanted to use our school to showcase our high-ability program. (Anytime people want to come and see what we are doing, I jump at the chance to show off the wonderful things happening here.) Please be aware that many new faces will be walking around this school on that day.
*Friday, Sept. 8th...Colts/Jeans Day! Students & Staff
Standards? Where can student's find these in your classroom?
Based on the work of Edgar Dale; What we remember?
We remember:
- 90% of what we say & do
- 70% of what we say
- 50% of what we hear and see
- 30% of what we see
- 20% of what we hear
- 10% of what we read
Think about the way we teach? Do we model what we are saying? Great food for thought.
What testing "used" to look like.
However, this isn't today. We spend close to 20 or 25 days out of the year testing. This isn't why we teach, but it is a part of the process. I started thinking about how different school was for me and for our students today. They live in a world of color compared to the black and white world years ago. (Which is quite obvious from the picture). Our students' live in a world of color just by the technology that is readily available for them to see and use. So how do we continue to work in a changing world of education? We keep life colorful!
I continue to believe that what you all are offering to students daily in your classroom is colorful! YOU offer creative ways to think, bright ideas, and brilliant pieces of advice daily. Don't stop working in color!
