One of our most revered traditions at Wilson Elementary is our yearly Veteran’s Day
program. This is a special time that we take to honor and remember those that have served in our Nation’s Military, especially Veterans that are family and friends of our students and staff.
This year’s program will be held on Friday, November 11th at 8:30am.
We encourage you to invite your special Veteran to join us!
We welcome our Veterans to join us for a special program that will include our Cub Scouts, Student Council, choir, and several children. Your child will give a special recognition to their honored Veteran. A delicious breakfast will be provided after the program.
Please click on this link to fill out online. If you need a hard copy, please request one from your child’s teacher
Also, this shutterfly link is for you to submit a photo of your Veteran. If your loved one
is unable to attend please submit a picture so we can still recognize your loved one.

GEM info
While you are in your day to day grind, please take note of all the wonderful things you notice about your colleagues and consider submitting a GEM (Great Educators Matter) nomination form.
The internal Employee Recognition Program (GEM: Great Educators Matter) seeks to recognize outstanding employees who serve the mission of the district in a manner that exceeds job/salary expectations...those who go "above and beyond the call of duty" on a semi-annual basis. CISD employees are nominated by their peers and, two times per school year, as many as 30 are recognized before the Board of Trustees. Their names are also added to the "Wall of Honor" in the district's Vonita White Administration Building.
Do you know anyone who fits this description? Of course you do! Wilson is filled with GEMs!!
Nominations are due no later than November 14th. Below are the instructions on how to submit a nomination. If you have any questions, please see Jennifer Adams.
How to submit a GEM nomination:
- From the “Start” menu on your computer, click on “Programs” and then “Staff Resources”

National Handwashing Awareness Week
December 4th-10th is National Handwashing Awareness Week. In honor of this week, I am planning to work with specials teachers during PLC time for each grade level from December 1st-8th to review proper handwashing technique! I plan to do a small re-cap during the December 9th Rise and Shine assembly. Please continue encouraging your kids to wash their hands as much as possible, especially after using the bathroom. And if a bathroom is not available to them to wash their hands, please have your learners use hand sanitizer. Thank you!
Cleaning your Rooms
We have had a lot of sickness lately at Wilson! Yikes! I am going to recommend that each day you wipe down your tables, door knobs, and other common areas with Clorox wipes if you have them. Especially during flu season. If you don’t have wipes, maybe you could ask for donations. If we work with housekeeping to keep things as clean as possible, maybe it will cut back on some of the sickness here at Wilson! Thank you ALL for your help to keep our kids healthy!
