Dear Cumberland Families,
Kindness Makes Us Shine
In order to build on our “Kindness is like Dominoes” from earlier this year, Cumberland Student Council is celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Day, which is on Saturday Feb. 17th. From Feb. 5th-Feb 19th, each grade level is given the challenge to earn 100 acts of Kindness stars. When students are seen performing an act of kindness, their grade will be given a star sticker to add to their large star on display in the hallway. If each grade level completes 100 acts of kindness by the 19th, we will have a celebration with all of our Shining Stars at Cumberland!
When you are here for Open House tonight, look around the building for the stars and the 100 signs with acts of kindness that Student Council hung around the school!

As we head into National School Counseling Week, we wanted to take a moment to shine a light on one of our team members: Jennifer Kivi, our incredible school counselor! We are incredibly grateful for Ms. Kivi's dedication, compassion and expertise. Her impact on our school community is immeasurable, and her tireless efforts ensure that every child feels supported, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential. Check out this flier to learn a little bit more about Ms. Kivi and her role as a school counselor in Whitefish Bay.
We hope to see all of you at Open House this evening!
Warm regards,
Jayne Heffron and Rebecca Salomon

Valentine's Day: Wednesday, Feb 14th
Please help us to make Valentine's Day safe and inclusive for all of our students. Many of our students have food allergies, some of which are life threatening. Students are welcome to bring Valentines in for students in their class, but we ask that these not be food items. Notes alone are fine, but you can also consider stamps, stickers, pencils, tattoos, bouncy balls, small fidgets, etc. We know this may be disappointing, but our number one goal is to be safe and inclusive for all. Thank you!

Newsies: Begins March 1st
Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right!
Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Featuring the now classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience. You don’t want to miss this one! Come join us for a night of live theater that will inspire the whole family!
