Your Opinion Matters
Parents, please participate in this state survey by giving feedback on school climate and learning conditions in District 103 through the state-administered, Illinois 5Essentials Survey.
This 20-minute survey is a great way for D103 parents to provide input into the five indicators from the survey that affect and predict school success:
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
For more about the survey, please visit the D103 website.
Wrestling Season
The wrestling season is going very well! The Warriors wrestling program continues to grow. The wrestlers come to practice ready to work hard and are getting better each and every day. That hard work shows during the meets. They utilize the moves and techniques they are learning against an opponent to try to win their match. For pictures of the wrestlers, please visit the school's Google Doc folder.

Self-Care for the Caregivers: Fostering Family Well Being
D96, D102, D103 Parent Education and the Vernon Area Library are excited to welcome back clinical psychologist Dr. Caroline Adelman to help us develop strategies for navigating our roles as parents with greater attention to self-care, self-compassion, and intentionality around our values. Dr. Adelman, of Chicago Psychotherapy, will discuss how parental prioritization of self-care and self-regulation can result in better co-regulation and decreased stress for the entire family.
Dr. Adelman will expand on the classic metaphor of "placing the oxygen mask on ourselves, before we can help others", by discussing evidence based coping tools, self-regulation tools, and strategies for improving and modeling "emotional hygiene" in the family system.
This event will be presented in a hybrid format with both a virtual option, and the opportunity to attend live at the Vernon Area library. The first 75 individuals to register below will be able to attend the event in person.
7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1
