We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving! The virtue of the month coming up for the month of December is gratitude, which seems particularly apropos for this season. The Virtues in Practice program defines gratitude as "seeing everything as a gift and being thankful." Furthermore, Thomas Merton reflects, "to be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything He has given us... and he has given us everything."

And so, as we prepare to celebrate this Thanksgiving, may we all reflect on those things that we see as gifts in our lives. How blessed we are to share in this school community together, supported by incredible staff and volunteers, with our sights set on forming both saints and scholars.

Know that I am grateful for each of you, and for the many ways in which you support our students, staff, and community. I pray this break provides a brief respite for you and your family to slow down and enjoy the things that matter most. As J.R.R. Tolkien remarks in The Hobbit, "if more of us valued food and cheer and song above gold, it would be a merrier world.” May this Thanksgiving be a time for you to do just that, and may God bless you and your family in the week ahead.
