REMOVAL OF "REMOTE PRESENT"
Removal of “Remote Present” option for Face-to-Face students
Elementary Students
Effective April 12, 2021 for Elementary students
Students who are enrolled as face-to-face learners in Birdville ISD will follow the attendance guidelines and procedures listed in the Elementary Student handbooks.
- Elementary Student Handbook (See page 27)
Therefore, students enrolled as face-to-face learners in BISD must be present on campus to be counted present per attendance guidelines. You may not do choose to do remote learning (due to various reasons) and be counted present for the day.
This change returns face-to-face learners to the traditional Attendance for Credit procedures, as well as to the excused and unexcused absence criteria. Make-up work may be assigned to students through a variety of means including, but not limited to:
- Canvas,
- Seesaw,
- Other virtual platforms, or
- Paper/hard copies
Completion of make-up work does not change attendance status (excused or unexcused). Make-up work will be graded according to the guidelines set forth in the Elementary Student handbooks.
All students enrolled as remote learners and any face-to-face student placed on medical quarantine will continue to earn Attendance for Credit according to the guidelines in the TEA-approved Online Instructional Plan.
Sign up today to meet with an online support teacher via Zoom through your student portal! Sessions available Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
