May has started out to be a busy month!


With last week being "Teacher Appreciation Week," I want to take a moment to thank our teachers and related service providers for all that they do to support our students and families. The work we do would not be possible without their dedication.


The Office of Special Education and Student Supports and the Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) want to invite parents and staff to an in-person, two part series, with Dr. Lydia Soifer on Executive Functioning and Working Memory. The save-the-date flyer is below with further information.

Behavior Support Team

The District Behavior Support Team (BST) got together with SESS Coordinator Mrs. Karen Vitti (third from the left) for a group picture on Teachers Appreciation Week. The team includes (from left to right): Dr. Fabian A. Boie, Dr. Alina A. Boie, Ms. Deborah Whitman, Ms. Shantal Jackson, and Ms. Lisa Berluti.


The BST provides ongoing and comprehensive social-emotional and behavioral support to all schools, school teams, and students in Greenwich Public Schools. Their hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated!

Cos Cob

Cos Cob Special Education Teacher Ms. Victoria Bee is working with a kindergarten student on letter and sound identification.

New Lebanon

Fifth graders in Ms. Laura Gonzalez's classroom at New Lebanon School learn about the effect of daily stress on their bodies and brains. They discuss ways to manage it and practice several coping strategies such as mindfulness, progressive muscle relaxation, and positive affirmations. Learning various coping strategies will come in handy during testing.

North Mianus

North Mianus second-grade students are learning how to calm down and focus by using mindfulness strategies.

Parkway's School Garden

Parkway students celebrate the grand opening of the school garden and hold a tree planting ceremony for Arbor Day with Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo.

Chicken Parmigiana Day at Windrose

Windrose students celebrated 100% participation in the School Day SAT with Mrs. Fox's homemade chicken parmigiana and pasta with Mr. Cellini's homemade sauce, followed by the third marking period PBIS raffle!

New IEP/ CT-SEDS "Preview Session"

The CSDE has completed 8 of its 11 brief “IEP Preview Sessions” to highlight the improvements to the IEP and special education processes, you can access the preview sessions on its website. Topics include PPT notice, Prior Written Notice, Referral and eligibility determination, preset levels of performance and secondary transition. There are three more upcoming sessions to discuss supplementary aids and services, state testing and progress reports and amendments.

Listening Community's Spring Session

The Listening Community's has started its Spring session that will run through June 1. Meetings occur during the fall, winter, and spring for a six-week cycle and are held on Wednesdays at Greenwich Town Hall. Parents/guardians have the option of attending the morning session from 9:30-10:30 AM or the evening session from 6:30-7:30 PM.


For those that prefer, the evening session will offer participants the option to stream if they cannot attend in person. You can also find more information through the Listening Community newsletter.
