Week 8, Term 1

Principal's Message

Kia ora koutou,

The past few weeks have been nothing short of a challenge yet still very productive! On Thursday we completed our Profile Report with the Education Review Office. They were very pleased with the progress we’re making towards our Strategic Aims and feel confident in the direction the school is headed. The Profile Report needs to go through the quality assurance process before being made available to our community; when available this will be uploaded to our school website.

We’ve also nearly completed our Annual Audit. The Annual Report will be made available on our website at the end of May once our Auditors have finalised it.

On the 1st March, I submitted our 2022 Charter and Strategic Aims to the Ministry of Education. The whole document, which includes our annual aims and achievement targets is available to view on our school website (www.hautapu.school.nz).

Dion Marchioni and I are very proud of the way the school has managed to focus on core teaching and learning during these unpredictable times. This mahi could not have happened without the commitment and dedication of all our staff – thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I wish Pohutukawa Class and the teachers a successful camp next week. It has been a lot of hard work in the background for the teachers to create a safe environment amidst the current climate. I am so pleased we have managed to create this opportunity for our students.

Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui

Be strong, be brave, be steadfast

Lucy Suter

My name is Lucy Suter, and I am one of the proud house leaders of Maungatautari house in 2022.

You may know me already as this is the second year in a row I have been Maungatautari’s house leader. Because of this I have learned so much about being a leader and the responsibilities that come with it. I enjoy writing, reading and other quiet activities, yet will also happily ride the scariest & most dangerous rides at theme parks.

I love to see the changes and differences between leading this year and the year before. I’m unable to physically lead assemblies as I did last year, but I am looking forward to giving house leader certificates in the near future.

I am so excited to be able to take this leadership role once again in 2022.
