Omahaexploring.org Opportunity!
Are you interested in a future career in architectural engineering, construction engineering or construction management? Omahaexploring.org is a career education program for students that pairs students with businesses in order to learn more about career fields at a minimal cost. The Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction is partnering with the Peter Kiewit Institute so that students can experience the architecture or construction fields before they begin their post-secondary education.
- When: January 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, & February 6th; 6-8 PM

2019 Patient Care Technician Academy
We have very exciting news! Nebraska Medicine is again collaborating with Millard Public Schools and Metropolitan Community College to provide funds to support an after school CNA course for MPS juniors and seniors. This course will run from January 28-May 2 and will meet on Mondays and Thursday from 4-7 PM at Horizon High School.
This unique partnership will provide:
- College and high school credit through MCC and MPS
- Clinical experience
- Completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program
- Tuition and books will be provided
- Mentoring and interview practice by Nebraska Medicine
- Opportunity to interview for Patient Care Technician (CNA) positions at Nebraska Medicine and be eligible for additional tuition assistance for continued education.

Attorney General's Youth Conference - April 16, 2019
On April 16, 2019, Attorney General Peterson will host a day-long conference where a selected number of high school juniors from across the state will have the opportunity to participate in discussion and debate. Topics will range from our U.S. Constitution, rights, responsibilities to critical issues facing students and their communities. Students will also hear from AGO Bureau Chiefs, expand their understanding of the legal process in Nebraska, and eat lunch at the Governor’s Residence.
Applications are due to the Attorney General's office on or before February 15, 2019. Selected students will be notified by March 15th.

Second Semester Schedule Change Requests
We hope that our students and families have a fantastic, restful, and memorable Winter Break. Please remember the guidelines for requesting schedule changes for when we return in January:
Approved reasons for a schedule change request:
- I need a study hall or Open Campus
- I did not take or failed the Prerequisite for a class
- I have a documented medical condition and need to adjust classes
- I already took the class
- I have two study halls in the same semester
- I am a 12th grade student with fewer than 4 classes per semester
Nonapproved reasons for a schedule change request:
- I want to switch one elective for another.
- I don't like the classes that I chose during Registration.
- I want to change teachers.
- I want to drop an AP class for a non-AP class.
