Panther Digest
Prairie View Elementary - October 2023
Principal's Note
I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits as we transition into the beautiful month of October, one of my favorite!
First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the families who joined us for our Harvest Fest event. It was incredible to see so many parents volunteering at this event to benefit PVES. Your dedication to our school community is deeply appreciated.
I also want to commend all of our families for helping us kick off the school year with enthusiasm and positivity. It is evident that all of us have embraced the new routines that come with the beginning of another school year. I am looking forward to welcoming all of you into the building this year.
As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students, I would like to remind everyone about our morning drop-off procedures. Please ensure that your children remain in their vehicles until 8:18 AM when our staff members are ready for supervision. We want to maintain a secure and orderly start to the school day, and your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating our upcoming VIP lunch week next week. This is a great opportunity to welcome family and friends into PVES and learn more about our school community. Additionally, we have Parent Teacher Conferences coming up at the end of October. These meetings provide valuable opportunities to discuss your child's progress, goals, and ways we can work together to support their academic journey. More information about scheduling these conferences will be shared soon.
As we embrace the beginning of this season, please know that we are here to support your child's growth and learning every step of the way. Should you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.
Thank you again for your incredible support.
Warm regards,
Valerie Vos, Principal

Morning Drop-Off Procedures
I wanted to take a moment to provide you with some important updates regarding our morning drop-off procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
Morning Supervision: Our staff members begin their morning supervision duty at 8:18 AM. Students must remain in their parents' vehicle until a staff member is outside and ready to supervise. NO child should be left unsupervised at this time. Parents should not start dropping their children off prior to 8:18 when staff members are present.
Grade-Level Line-Up: At 8:18 AM, students should exit their vehicles and line up with their grade level peers. This allows for a smooth transition into the building.
Entry Time: The first bell rings at 8:23 AM, signaling the time for students to enter the building. It is crucial for students to be in their classroom and ready to learn by 8:30 AM.
Tardiness: Students dropped off after 8:30 AM will be considered tardy. In such cases, parents/guardians are required to park and sign their child into the office.
Our primary concern is the well-being of our students, and these procedures are designed with their safety in mind. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a safe and efficient morning drop-off process.
Title 1
Federal law allows parents of each student attending any school receiving Title 1 funds to request and obtain information regarding the professional qualifications of their child's classroom teachers.
Included in this information, parents may request whether a student's teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade level(s) and subject area(s) in which the teacher provides instruction, whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived, and whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher. If a student's services are provided by paraprofessionals, the parents may request information about their qualifications. To request this information, parents should contact the school's main office at XXXX and the information will be provided in a timely fashion.

Note from Counselor
Dear Families,
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. This nationwide campaign began over a decade ago ago with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. Schools around the country participate in Bullying Prevention Month by educating their students on best practices to stop bullying.
At Prairie View, during the months of September and October, we will focus our time in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) on bullying prevention strategies. Using the curriculum from ACT Now! through Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Ignition through the online platform EverFi, students will have the opportunity to engage in important discussions around what it means to stop and report bullying and cyberbullying and keep our schools feeling safe.
I am looking forward to engaging in these challenging conversations with students this fall about the importance of stopping bullying, being a kind friend, and celebrating differences.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to contact me!
I’m looking forward to a great school year!
Mrs. Toelle
*Please note I will be out on maternity leave mid-October through mid-January. My long-term substitute, Mr. Jay Christiansen, can be reached at chrisja@masd.k12.wi.us

Thursday, October 26th and Friday, October 27th are no school days for students.
Parents will sign up online using a link that will be sent to all parents electronically from your child's teacher.
