Halcyon's MUN Conference: Chair Applications
To those wishing to apply for a Chair position,
Halcyon will be hosting its third annual Model United Nations (MUN) conference this June. This years conference will be entertaining the theme ‘Controlling our Changing Climate: Political, Physical and Economic’ and will be made up of four different committees: Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Security Council (SC), Human Rights Council (HRC) and G20. This years conference is seeking to fill the position of eight Chairs, that is two for each committee.
Applicants must write a letter of motivation, no longer than 500 words, outlining:
- What they believe their strengths would be as a Chair
- Any prior experiences, notably those with MUN, they believe could aid them in Chairing debate
- Why they are interested in chairing at Halcyon MUN
It is mandatory that applicants should have participated as a delegate at at least one other MUN conference. Chairing experience is appreciated but not required. It is suggested that the applicant familiarise themselves with the different committees in order to make an informed choice in terms of their first and second choice committees within the application.
Accepted applicants will be responsible for communicating with and answering the questions of the delegates of their committees via Google+ and email, attending a Chair workshop prior to the conference, and co-chairing their committee’s debates throughout the two day conference.
Applicants must fill out the Halcyon MUN 2016 Chair application form and attach the letter outlined above in order to be eligible for the position.
The Halcyon Model United Nations Board of Directors looks forward to reading your application letter, and eagerly awaits your participation in this years conference!
Thank you,
The Halcyon MUN Board of Directors Academics Committee,
Alexi, Eveline and Scott
