Thank you to all of the students who participated in the Local School Council Election! Each student did a tremendous job preparing their speeches and answering questions from their peers through our school community forum. This group made history in being the first group of elementary school students at Peirce who were able to run for a student position on the Local School Council. I look forward to the positive impact that student voice will have in school-wide decision making.

Sunny (6th grade student) was chosen to be exhibited by the CPS & Design Museum's All City Arts Exhibition! This exhibition is a juried show that only a select few from across the city are chosen for. Sunny's artwork P was created to show the struggle of trans youth.

Peirce Beautification Day - Saturday April 23

As part of the 48th Ward’s Clean and Green Event, Peirce will participate in a Beautification Day on Saturday, April 23rd from 9:30am - 12pm. Please join us as we clean the playground, field, and entire block surrounding Peirce. We will spread fresh mulch throughout the garden areas, and help assemble and stain our new picnic tables. Meet on the playground; supplies will be provided.

As we begin to design this program, please complete the survey below to indicate your interest in having your child participate along with the types of classes/activities that your child would like to participate in.

More information will be shared with families once we know if we received the additional funds to support a summer program.

The Chicago Resilient Communities Pilot will be open between Monday, April 25 at 9:00 a.m. and Friday, May 13 at 11:59 p.m.

As part of Mayor Lightfoot’s commitment to ensuring an equitable recovery, the pilot will provide $500 monthly cash payments to 5,000 residents hit hard by the pandemic over the course of 12 months. The state application deadline for gas electric debt relief from LIHEAP is closing on May 31st. For financial assistance on a gas or electric bill, residents may contact CEDA to see if they qualify for LIHEAP assistance (all Chicago residents, including undocumented residents, may be eligible). Trees for a Change

Fund a Tree & Raise Money for Peirce School

From April 18-29
Friends of Peirce will host a virtual fundraising event in honor of Earth Day (4/22) and Arbor Day (4/29). These two events focus on trees and their importance to us. FOP is partnering with the

Trees for a Change organization to help reforest areas of national forests that have been devastated by wildfires.

For each tree you fund at $15, FOP will receive $5 for programming and projects for our school. You will receive a printable card which you can use to dedicate your tree funding as a gift to someone.

Leave the kids at home, and come out for a fun night of trivia. Compete for prizes and bragging rights to trivial knowledge. Festivities will be hosted by Peirce parent Sandy Weisz, who runs The Mystery League!

Included are 3 hours of trivia and games, 1 drink ticket per person (more can be purchased) & light appetizers. Space is limited! Empirical can accommodate about 120 people for this event. Vaccine Rates Added to CPS COVID Dashboard

In order to provide more data to our families and school communities about the pandemic, CPS is now publishing student vaccination rates on our COVID-19 data dashboard. Vaccine numbers will be available at the District level, and families can also search for vaccine rates by their individual school.

As a result of the update to the district COVID dashboard, the internal document will no longer be updated.
