Davis A&M Family Newsletter

Principal's Message

Davis Students & Families,

The weather is getting warmer and we are moving quickly to the end of the year. We have a number of field trips coming up over the next couple months. Please ask your child about them. 9th graders specifically will be participating in a multi-day Spirit of America Boat program once they finish earning their Boating License in Maritime Science.

SPA Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. At Davis, we ask our parents to meet with their child's advisor. Students have been preparing goal sheets in Crew that will be discussed, so they should join the conference. This is an important meeting that we value greatly at the school. If you have not made an appointment to see your child's advisor yet, please call the school.

To accommodate conferences, there will be an early dismissal at lunch on Wednesday. Students with conferences that afternoon will be allowed to stay at school to wait.

If you have questions about any of the announcements, please call the school at 216.838.2500

Davis students’ short films featured in Cleveland International Film Festival

from CMSD NEWS BUREAU 4/19/2021

What began as a class assignment for Davis Aerospace and Maritime ninth graders has turned into three short films that are part of the 46th Cleveland International Film Festival.

The films are part of CIFF’s FilmSlam Streams, an educational program for students, and can be viewed online.

To teach literary elements of a story, English teacher Darlene Jeter came up with the class project of either writing a short story or producing a film.

Invest In Girls

On April 4th, 11 Davis females started the Invest In Girls program. This is a 6-week after school program that focuses on financial literacy for females. When they complete the program, not only will they be more knowledgeable about saving money, building credit, their money-spending personalities, and budgeting, they will each receive a $100 Amazon gift card.

Help Davis Help PHASTAR - TAKE A MOMENT TO VOTE

Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer readers will recognize the most purpose-driven and impactful nonprofits in the area. WITHOUT A DOUBT....it is PHASTAR! PHASTAR works to make sure Davis students partake in thematic activities, like flight lessons, boating club, and fab lab club. PHASTAR also plays a huge roll in Davis students receiving internships and summer jobs with companies like United Airlines and local partners like Youth Opportunities Unlimited.

This is our opportunity to give a little back to PHASTAR. All you have to do is VOTE. Voting is open, and you can cast a vote for PHASTAR EVERY DAY through May 4, 2022. Click here to vote NOW. Then remember to vote every day!

The nonprofit with the most votes will receive a cleveland.com marketing campaign valued at $10,000, and three runners up a campaign valued at $5,000 each.
