WEEKLY UPDATE #4 SEPTEMBER 26, 2021
Message from your Principal:
This week students are allowed to move during our COMMON ACADEMIC TIME a.k.a CAT.
CAT is the last block of the day on most Tuesday - Thursdays. It is a time where students should be asking for pre-signed passes to get help from teachers. Our entire building has this period dedicated to academic learning/support. Students should be completing homework, studying, checking their student portal and accessing resources to be a successful Titan. We highly discourage families from signing their student out during this time unless it is an emergency.
Teachers typically take the first 2 weeks of school to get to know your students on a personal level and to help create a warm, welcoming, and affirming environment. As we move into week #3 the academic rigor will increase. Please take the time to check the parent portal and reach out to teachers via e-mail or google classroom. Home to school communication is SO IMPORTANT! Before you know it, it will be Mid-November and you will be reviewing your students first 2021-2022 school year report card!
If you need any assistance or have questions please review important contact information regarding administration and counselors below.
WEDNESDAY OCT. 13TH 2021 5:30 -7:30 PM
Students are encouraged to attend and show off their school to their families! Students will be able to escort Families from table to table to meet teachers, club advisors, and learn about different opportunities at Arcadia High School.
PSAT Tuesday October 26th at 7:15 am TEST SITE: ARH GYM
Get Ready for Test Day
Preparing for test day is simple:
- Ask your school counselor when your class will take the PSAT/NMSQT or the PSAT 10.
- Get a list of what materials to bring on test day and what to leave at home.
- Take a practice test to see what the tests are like and receive a personalized skills workout. Get free practice.
- Decide if you want to opt in to Student Search Service®.
- If you need College Board testing accommodations for students with disabilities, talk to your counselor.
- If you're homeschooled or testing outside the U.S., find out what to do.
You'll receive an email when your scores are available. To see your scores, get personalized feedback, and access free resources to help you plan for college, you'll need to log in to or create your College Board account.
That's it—if you're a student.

WEEKLY UPDATE #2 SEPTEMBER 12, 2021
Message from your Principal:
This week I want to thank everyone for their patience and dedication towards the new 2021-2022 school year. This week was overall a SUCCESS!!
Thank you for all the dedicated bus drivers and attendants for getting our students to school safely! We will continue to work on morning drop-off and afternoon pickup as we all settle into routines. Parents and students thank you for driving safely in our parking lots and your extra patience is much appreciated!
Teachers and students you have been AMAZING this week. We have been working on creating a warm and welcoming environment, getting to class on time, and engaging in learning in safe and trusting classrooms. I was excited to see students and teachers interacting in person and in creative ways. WAY TO GO TITANS!
Custodial and food service staff, THANK YOU for your continued efforts to provide the basic needs to all Titans such as food, a clean environment, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our students and staff appreciate everything you do!
Clerical and support staff, THANK YOU for helping students navigate their schedule, answering questions, and directing all community members to the information they are seeking. We couldn't have had a successful week without you.
Security, health office staff, and administrators thank you for keeping everyone's health and safety at the forefront. We continue to put systems in place to monitor the welfare of our students and staff and I could not be prouder.
Parents thank you for your continued support. Your students modeled how to be a respectful and responsible Titan this week. We appreciate your work and love at home for our students. When they come to school we take care of them like they are our own. Quality family/school partnerships is the heart and core of Arcadia High School. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!
Sincerely,
Christina Wawrzyniak
A Special thanks to our choir students, Mrs. Kosko, & Mr. Dalton for singing during the 9/11 ceremony.
Arcadia Moment Of Silence Scheduled for 9/13/2021
Saturday marked 20 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Hijackers crashed two commercial airliners into the World Trade Center, striking the north tower at 8:46 a.m. followed by the south tower at 9:03 a.m. At 9:37 a.m., a third hijacked airline crashed into the Pentagon. Twenty-two minutes later, the World Trade Center's south tower collapsed. A fourth hijacked plane crashed into a field in rural Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 10:03 a.m. after passengers fought with and overcame the hijackers. At 10:28 a.m. the World trade Center's north tower collapsed.
In total, 2,977 people were killed, including many New York City first responders. Tribute in Light shined over lower Manhattan at end of 20th anniversary and the spot where the twin towers stood on the 20th anniversary of the terror attacks. The lights were first installed as a monthlong tribute six months after the attacks, then lit up the sky on the second anniversary of Sept. 11. They have been used as a tribute each year on the anniversary since 2003.
Our thoughts go out to those we lost, those that were impacted, and those that are continued to by impacted by the 9/11/2001 event.

I have grown up in Greece and I am a graduate of Greece Olympia. I have 2 daughters who both attend Greece schools. My family and I own a camper and we love camping anytime we can get the chance to. We go all over and enjoy the outdoors!!
I am very excited to start this new adventure working at Arcadia High School and can't wait to start an amazing year with you all.

My husband and I are both Arcadia alumni, so I am so happy to be back in Titan Territory! We have been married for 15 years and have 2 daughters. Siena is 11 and going into 6th grade at Arcadia Middle this year, Lila is 9 and entering 4th grade at Paddy Hill. Both my kids are involved in sports, which keeps us super busy in the evenings and weekends. Siena is on a rock climbing team, plays the saxophone in band and also does chorus. Lila is on an all-star cheer team and plays soccer, she will also be starting chorus and the trumpet for band this year.
Other than my kids' activities, we like to stay busy trying new things as a family. We are always looking for new hiking paths to explore or cool places to visit. We are currently planning our first ever trip to Universal for next April break. I can’t wait to start this school year and meet everyone.
Please come by my office to say hello!

Our boys keep us busy with their football, basketball and lacrosse schedules. We love to travel and golf as a family. The majority of our travel this summer was for lacrosse but we threw some fun trips in there too!
A random fun fact is that back in college I worked at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio for a summer on the Corkscrew roller coaster.
I am very excited for the 2021-2022 school year and look forward to meeting all of you!
PLEASE READ: Schedule Changes
Please note that all students will receive a copy of their schedule in home base. Freshman will have the opportunity to get their’s early on September 7th during Freshman Ignite.
PLEASE NOTE:
Building a high school schedule is very complex. To make sure we meet everyone's need we mailed home course requests in June. At this time if there were any interest in making course changes a parent, guardian, or student needed to discuss this with their student counselor. A lot of careful consideration and variables go into course selection as well as creating a master schedule. While we find student choice very important, especially when it comes to preparing students for their future, the priority is to ensure all students get the courses they need for graduation.
AS A RESULT, the only schedule changes that will be considered are for courses that are true errors please see some examples below:
Situations when a schedule change would be honored:
- A class needed for graduation is missing
- A class a student already took, passed, and earned credit for is on the schedule
Situations when a schedule change would NOT be considered:
- Changed mind about their interests
- Request for a certain teacher
- Request for change in lunch
- Request to be with friends
