Year 9 Team Report

The Year 9's have continued their renaissance into a well organised, hard to beat side this season and are currently at the top of their division. The team have found a system that works for them that relies on high energy levels and concentration. The boys continue to demonstrate a new level of commitment and desire in their game with some excellent results. The squad continues to compete in all competitions including League, League Cup and County Cup. Following an excellent start the boys do have some tough fixtures coming up but a top four finish has to be their aim. This would represent further progress from last season. The boys have an added incentive with a national football tournament in Blackpool to look forward to in May.

Year 8 Team Report

Year 8 boys football update: The boys have had a difficult start to the season as games have been few and far between! This second round cup tie versus Newminster (Morpeth) was a chance to kick start the 2013-14 season and they did just that. Led by captain Walton they were quick out of the blocks and it wasn't long before Connick rattled the underside of the crossbar (no Russian linesman or goal line technology to help the faultless referee). It was Taylor who scored first for CCC and this was followed by 2 from Connick, another from Taylor, an OG and a fantastic strike from Wilkes all before half time. Smith scored in the second half from a corner before Newminster made their response of 3 goals but the game was all but over. 7-3. CCC proceed to the next round without really getting into second gear. Well played boys; the season starts now!

Year 10 Football Report

The Year 10 football team continue to demonstrate an outstanding attitude and consistency in their performance levels to lie at the top of their league at Christmas. The boys have played some tough games but have won all of them so far including defeating previous League and National Cup Champions Seaton Burn. The boys are in the position where the league title is ultimately in their own hands and will be trying their best to still be at the top at the end of the season. In a very tough league, this will not be easy and are well aware Churchill are the team every other team wants to beat. The boys will have to make sure they are on the top of their game for the remainder of the season due to the quality of the other teams they will be facing. In a squad where there are no star individual players, the boys’ unique togetherness, work rate and energy will hopefully serve them well as it has done so well in previous seasons without receiving the credit they should have. The boys are currently still fighting in all competitions including League, League Cup and County Cup. Due to the demand and commitment of the boys in this year group as a whole there is an active 'B' squad who have also had a very good start to the season and are in the quarter finals of the League Cup.

Squad: Stephen Oliver, Callum Chirnside, Callum Hewitson, Mark Kennedy, Fatlum Ballabanaj, Callum Storey, Scott Ramsay, Karl Charlton, Chris D’Arcy, Jonathan Coulthard, Jake Owsnett, Ryan Waterston (Capt), Taylor Moulden, Ross Thirlaway, Ben Trinder-Bywater.
