Calendar and Schedule Updates

The latest calendar updates are available at

New from the Principal

This week I was able to visit every classroom and tell them a little about me. We also read a book that goes along with our I Am One theme. It is great getting to know the students and learn their names. CGE is a special place that I am honored to be a part of.

The second week of school was wonderful. Everyone is settling in to their routines and we are getting more and more comfortable each day. Thank you for your partnership!

Safety First

Safety is a top priority at CGE.

  • We practiced our first fire drill this week and the students did very well.
  • We will be practicing our first lock down early next week as well.
  • Just a reminder that parents are not allowed to walk their child to their locker. We are doing our very best to keep everyone safe and this is one way we can do that. We have several adults available to help any student who may need assistance getting to their classroom.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Please use the crosswalk when traveling to and from the parking lot before and after school. Please do not cross between cars. Cars are driving around each other and it is UNSAFE to cross into the parking lot from any other spot than the crosswalk. We have a crossing guard who will stop traffic to allow you to cross safely.

Limited Lunch Visitors

CGE will be able to host limited lunch time visitors between , October 1– May 26th this school year. Based on space and safety requirements, one family member listed in Parent Portal may sign up using our monthly Reservation Link to accompany their child at our guest lunch table. Our CGE Reservation Link will become live on September 16th for the month of October. We ask families to review the process below so that we can ensure this practice is available:

  1. Sign up for the visit no later than the day prior to your visit.
  2. Upon arrival for the visit, present identification and complete the Raptor screening.
  3. Wear the visitor badge so that it is visible during the entirety of the visit.
  4. Go directly to the lunchroom and eat in the guest space with your student.
  5. No friends or additional students will be permitted to join the guest space.
  6. Visitors may not visit recess time.
  7. The visit is limited to guest space during the student’s identified lunch period.
  8. Any outside food brought in can only be shared with your student.
  9. Do not take pictures, record, or film while at school. Use of cell phones is strongly discouraged for safety and privacy.
  10. You may sign up for one spot a month to allow for other families to sign up as well.

You will get a new link monthly to reserve your spot.

NOTE: We are going to start slow with this new procedure. The month of October has limited dates. PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP FOR ONE SLOT THIS FIRST MONTH. We anticipate increasing to more dates in November once we have one month behind us so we can work out any kinks we may encounter. Thank you for your patience.

Art at CGE

Art show: We will be hosting our Art Show in the commons area during conferences in February. More info to come…

Portfolios: We will be saving artwork throughout the year and sending it home in an Art portfolio at the end of the year. We like to use the paper grocery bags from Jerry’s for our portfolios. If you have any bags that you save throughout the year, feel free to send them to school with your child.

I look forward to a wonderful year in Art class!

Fun Run

Our one and only fundraiser will be the CGE Fun Run again this year. We are so excited to spice it up this school year. Plans are underway for our at school event on Friday, October 14 and a Community Event on October 15 at Oltman Middle School where we will have food trucks and a track set up for families to walk/run together. More information will be coming about this fun fundraiser and CGE community event. We will not be buying shirts for students this year but please know they can wear their shirt from last year or any CGE shirt or green, black or white. There is an option on the spirit wear page to purchase a fun run shirt but as you can see, there are other options too.

Stay tuned for more information from PTO in the future.
