Peter DeWitt
By bringing him here, the district was able to offer it's entire administrative leadership team the opportunity to benefit from this rare coaching opportunity in a collaborative model. Peter encourages leading with collective efficacy and to "Coach It Further". In the past year and a half, Peter has met with the entire administrative team collectively, in small groups and also one on one with some administrators. Participants included the following; Principals, TOSA's (Teacher On Special Assignment), Executive Directors, Directors, the CBO (Chief Business Officer), Vice Principals and Coordinators. At the close of each visit, Peter debriefs with Superintendent,
Tim Vanoli and Associate Superintendent, Randy Bangs. He provides feedback from the various groups and shares his insight. They continue their communication post his departure. Peter shared they prioritize matters of immediate importance a needs assessment for the district, develop realistic timelines, address items the leadership team voiced to Peter for possible consideration and implement changes in areas identified for improvement.
BIO
Peter DeWitt's background in education originated in upstate New York where was a K-5 teacher for 11 years. He advanced into leadership as an elementary principal for 8 years. He runs competency-based workshops and provides keynotes nationally and internationally focusing on school leadership (collaborative cultures and instructional leadership), as well as, fostering inclusive school climates. His areas of expertise are Equity and Diversity, Student-Centered Classrooms, Collaborative Leadership to name a few. His syndicated column, Finding Common Ground, is published by Education Week. (see below) and he freelances for Vanguard Magazine.
