WELCOME BACK FOR 2nd SEMESTER!
It's Cold Outside!
TITLE I WINTER OLYMPICS!
Snowshoe Elementary FAMILY NIGHT!
JANUARY 24, 2020
6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
ALL Snowshoe students will receive a beautiful Winter Olympic participation medal on the evening of the event!
Dating back to 1979 the Snowshoe Winter games were created by Bob Siems, Snowshoe's first Principal. When I was a student here at Snowshoe, this was one of the biggest events of the year. In the recent passing of Mr. Siems, I have decided to bring the games back! Throughout the month of January and continuing into February students will get the chance to compete in any of the following events:
- Basketball Free Throw
- Softball Throw
- Paper Airplane Toss
- Tetherball
- 1 person "Bob Siems" sled
- 2 person "Bob Siems" sled
- Rope Climb
- Egg Drop
Our Title I Family Night will be January 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. During this event parents will get the chance to relive their childhood by participating in the games with their child.
The big event for the night will be the egg drop. Egg devices will be dropped from the roof of the building promptly at 6:00 p.m. The rules for the egg drop are as follows:
The package size and weight limitation is no more than 20 cm per side and no more than 1 kg. Glass and metal may not be used. The package must be constructed by the participants. Students will be in charge of loading and unloading their eggs in their devices.
We're hoping for good weather but be sure to dress warm because some of the games will be conducted outside.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
Mrs. Westcott will be kicking off her JRFH campaign at a schoolwide assembly on January 22nd. Fundraising packets will be sent home and everything will be collected by the deadline on February 11th. Please take a look at the packet sent home and if you have any questions, you can reach her at 352-9531. Or email her at cindi.westcott@matsuk12.us. Thanks for your support.
LOST & FOUND OVERFLOWING!
If your child is missing items, please have your child go check for lost items. Putting names inside of clothing helps us to get things returned promptly. These items cost you money to buy and even more money to replace.
We will be emptying out these boxes on February 1, 2020 and all items will be donated if not claimed. We apologize but we just don't have room to store clothing that is continuing to build up.
REPORTING AN ABSENCE
If you prefer talking to the teacher, you can find email addresses and direct classroom phone numbers on our website under the "Staff" tab.
MOVIE NIGHT IS COMING!
5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Coming Soon: ARCTIC DOGS
This is absolutely one you won't want to miss! Swifty the fox discovers a devious plan by Otto Von Walrus to drill beneath the Arctic surface to unleash enough gas to melt all the ice. With help from his friends -- an introverted polar bear, a scatterbrained albatross, a crafty fox and two paranoid otters -- Swifty and the gang spring into action to foil Otto's plot and save the day.
It's fun for the WHOLE family!
