Panim el Panim/Face to Face
Meet the Humans of Congregation Shaarei Kodesh
Hear the Stories of our Members - Interfaith Families
Join us following Shabbat services on Saturday, December 17, as Rabbi Baum interviews Rick and Roxana Aghassi.
We describe ourselves as a warm and inclusive community. With that inclusivity in mind, we have families of different make ups, and we have a number of intermarried households. Today Jewish experiences, obligations and commitments guide many intermarried households, and people from other faiths often join Jewish communities alongside their partners. They support their children’s religious education, volunteer time on behalf of the congregation, worship on Shabbat and holiday services, and participate in Jewish home rituals. How can we acknowledge this involvement and support our intermarried households within the framework of Jewish communal life here at Shaarei Kodesh and beyond?
Join us for a special Panim El Panim as I interview and we get to know one of our special families, Rick and Roxanne Aghassi. Rick grew up in a traditional Jewish home, Roxanne grew up in a Catholic home. While they are building an exclusively Jewish home, they are interfaith household. Join us as we discuss the challenges and opportunities of for their family and yours.
If you are an intermarried household…
If you have people from other faiths in your family…
If you are just curious
We welcome you to join us!
