Cyclone Central Remote Edition
May 1, 2020
A Message From Mrs. Rateno
TEAM Center,
Happy May Day to all! It is hard to believe that we are in the last month of our school year already! Although it is not ending as expected, I am proud of all the outstanding work from our teachers and students throughout this last quarter of remote learning, and we know it could not be done without the help of all of our parents and guardians at home!
Next week, we celebrate Staff Appreciation Week, and this is definitely a great time to celebrate the hard work and dedication that our Cyclone staff has shown throughout this school year! Each day, I hear stories about teachers and staff members going above and beyond to help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally! Their passion for helping others, and their willingness to think outside the box, is something that makes Center a special place to learn. Throughout the week, please join me in thanking our staff members. I encourage you to reach out personally to say thank you to any staff members who have made a difference in your child's life. A list of staff members and their email addresses can be found here for easy reference. Simple notes and letters of appreciation are valued tremendously and will definitely put a smile on many faces.
Our district and building staff members are working hard to finalize end of the year plans for student materials pick-up, medicine pick-up, field day, grade level celebrations, and 5th grade graduation. I can say that our staff's creativity and willingness to problem-solve these unique challenges has been exceptional, and we will get all of you our plans as soon as some final details are worked out. Families can plan for these activities to take place during the weeks of May 18th and May 25, but more specific details are to come.
To help students, teachers, and families close out the school year, it has been decided that there will be no new assignments given at the elementary level after May 22nd. During the final week of school, our teachers will still be available to help students with any unfinished assignments, to provide any intervention support needed, and to lead end of the year celebrations.
Lastly, I hope your family is staying well, and I wish everyone a wonderful weekend ahead. As always, please reach out if there is anything we can do to support your family during this time. We miss you all!
Sincerely,
Kate Rateno
Principal, Center Elementary School

HELPING HANDS
Cleveland Food Bank
In need of food? Contact Our Help Center at 216.738.2067
In 2012, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank launched a new benefits outreach initiative unique among food banks across the nation.
Our Help Center - dedicated to connecting food insecure individuals with the assistance they need – allows callers and walk-in clients the opportunity to complete an application for several government assistance programs. Clients can apply for SNAP (formerly food stamps) and more than 20 other programs with one of our benefits counselors. Calls are free and confidential.
In the Food Bank service area, one in six people are food insecure. For children, those numbers are more dismal. More than one in five children in our service area is at risk of hunger.
We understand that people need a helping hand during hard times. Many turn to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank for help! We serve clients from Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Richland and Ashland Counties and we can connect those in need to partner agencies, hot meals and mobile pantries that are nearby. In addition, we can help you submit a SNAP application by phone!
Call us today at 216.738.2067 or toll-free at 855.738.2067.
