Our New Pound Ridge Elementary School Principal
July 18, 2017
Dear PRES School Community,
We are pleased to announced that Mrs. Amy Fishkin is the new PRES Principal, effective August 17, 2017! The Board of Education approved Mrs. Fishkin's appointment earlier today.
Mrs. Fishkin comes to Bedford from the Chappaqua School District where she has served as the Principal of Roaring Brook School since 2012. The prior four years, she served as the Assistant Principal at Roaring Brook School. Mrs. Fishkin has served as a CSE chairperson and elementary school teacher for nine years with the Chappaqua School District as well.
As an elementary administrator, Mrs. Fishkin has strived to cultivate a professional learning community with the overarching vision of the District. She has collaborated with teachers and District administrators to grow a cohesive, thoughtful and research based approach to instruction that keeps students at the center of all decisions. She has also led parent groups to help them gain a better understanding of the literacy and the mathematics curriculum their children are learning and ways to support them at home.
Mrs. Fishkin earned a Bachelor's Degree of Arts in Psychology from University of Pennsylvania and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education. Mrs. Fishkin holds New York Certifications in the following areas: School District Leader (SDL) and School Building Leader (SBL), and N-6 Teaching.
A district-wide committee consisting of parents, support staff, teachers and administrators conducted interviews with four qualified candidates. Two semi-finalists participated in a performance component and were interviewed by representatives from the administrative team. Mrs. Fishkin emerged as the finalist in the search because of her strong leadership skills, extensive experience as an educational leader, and her commitment to being a life-long learner.
Please also join in congratulating and welcoming Mrs. Fishkin to BCSD!
The Bedford Central School District Board of Education and
Dr. Christopher M. Manno, Superintendent of Schools
