Central Elementary Named to Best Schools List By US News
Congratulations to Central Elementary School! US News and World Report listed Central Elementary on its Best Schools in America list. The Best Schools in America is a list of schools compiled by US News and World Report that takes into account state assessment scores and demographic factors that affect those scores. In brief, the commendation shows that Central Elementary School is performing above the level predicted based on demographic factors, or in other words, compared to similar schools.
It is evidence of students who do their best on the state assessments, faculty and staff who care about quality education, and parents and community members who support the school and the students! This truly is a community recognition.

Anden (8th), Graysen (7th) and Raelen (6th) Staples were honored this month. Congratulations, Anden, Graysen, and Raelen, and keep up the great work!
November Above & Beyond
Congratulations to LMS FACS teacher Alicia Carlton who was named as the El Potrillo Above & Beyond winner for November. One of Alisha's two nominations said that when the middle school Lions in Lyons Day date had to be changed at short notice due to impending weather, Alicia took on the responsibility to coordinate all the teams, staff, and homeowners. The nomination from Principal BJ Smith continues, " When she asked me if she could help, I knew it would get organized and it would be a success, because that is the kind of person Alicia is. I know she spent a lot of time on LNL and did it without expecting anything in return." LMS Counselor Christi Reid also submitted a nomination for Alicia. It said in part, " She is starting to make her third or fourth round of blankets for the foster care system. This is a project she does with her FACS classes. Students pick out material that they would like, but it isn't for them to keep. The students make the blankets to donate to a foster care provider." For her recognition, Alicia received a $25 gift certificate compliments of El Potrillo.
Also nominated for November were Kristin Borrowman, Bill Allen, Susan Tobias, Lora Fuss and Sarah Smith.
Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations. Thanks also to everyone for continuing to do your part to offer a first-class education to our students.
