Shark FIN Bulletin

October/November Edition

Happy fall!

It's hard to believe that we have been in school for 9 weeks already! Time flies when you are having fun! It's been so wonderful having our students back in school and learning. Everyone is doing such a great job following our safety protocols and our new school procedures. We have had a smooth opening and continue to have high hopes that we can continue learning in a safe environment. Please be sure to read each section carefully so that you will be aware and familiar with the happenings at SCES.

Teaming together towards excellence,

Mrs. Michelle Gritz- Principal

Vision and Mission

Vision: At SCES our vision is putting children first, striving for excellence, building positive relationships.

Mission: Collaboratively, our school community is committed to excellence, by putting children first, building caring relationships, and valuing diversity.

Our students and staff work daily on showing SHARK STRONG behavior. Shark Strong means that our students are being kind, showing respect and having integrity. These are the three main character traits we continue to teach and reinforce at Sugar Creek Elementary. Our Kindergarteners will jump right in and learn what being Shark Strong is all about!

RECYCLE YOUR PLASTIC BAGS to help SCES win great TREX products…park benches, flower boxes, etc!

Please remember to bring your plastic bags to SCES for recycle! When you donate your unwanted plastic bags and wrap, not only are you helping to keep thousands of pounds of waste out of landfills, you're also helping to create beautiful and environmentally responsible outdoor products. Donation bins can be found throughout the school so send them in.

News from Mrs. Tracy McClain (our Wonderful Powerschool Clerk)

Report cards will be sent out electronically through Parent Portal on November 17th at 4:00pm. You will have to have your child's ID number in order to access parent portal. Tracy McClain has sent out emails to parents that have not logged into parent portal. If you have not received an email from Tracy McClain and still need your child's ID number to access parent portal, please email her at She will be happy to send you the information and instructions to access your child's report card on Parent Portal.

Other Important Information

All students alternate having P.E. in the gym and outside. As the temperatures are getting cooler, please be sure to send a sweatshirt or jacket with your child on days they have P.E. All our students go outside for recess, so it's a good idea to send a sweatshirt or jacket each day. Please be sure to write your child's name on the inside of the jacket/sweatshirt in case they leave it outside.

PTO Ballot and Information

In the next few days you will be receiving an email that has a short bio on all of our PTO candidates. Please take a moment to read about each of our candidates. We will be sending home a paper ballot for you to cast your vote. Please be sure to return the ballot to school with your child. Thank you for your support!
