Fall 2020 Review
Voss Athletics Midyear Update
2/03/2021
Our 2nd year of Voss Eagle Athletics is in full motion. Our student athletes were very busy this fall with full seasons of cross country, football, volleyball, and the start of basketball. We look forward to finishing the year strong and to continue to build our students' skills and character. A very special thank you to all of our coaches for their time and commitment to our students.
Below is a midyear athletics program update submitted by each team's coach.
Have a great rest of the week. Soar Eagles, Soar!

VMS Cross Country
There were many successes throughout the cross country season. Voss hosted its first cross country meet on the Voss campus this Fall. Thanks again to all the volunteers who helped run off the that meet!
One big success was the 8th grade boys winning the District Meet held at Medina Valley. Great job boys!
Another success was the notable improvement in the athlete's times after each meet. I thank you for your willingness to come out to early morning practices and give excellent effort to each practice! I look forward to seeing you continue to succeed in the future.
VMS Football
Our win/loss record for 7th grade football does not express the success that these young men experienced in their football season. The personal growth that each athlete showed to become a Voss Eagle Football player was tremendous! By the end of the season our athletes showed true grit and toughness from start and finish on the football field. I look forward to the success that this group will have in the future.
The 8th football team had an exciting season of big wins and some close losses. The boys poured their hearts out for each other leaving everything they had on the field. Although the season did not end the way we wanted for the A-Team, the B-team pulled out a victory over a team that defeated them earlier in the season. We couldn't be more proud to have had the opportunity to coach all of these young men this year. It was a season to remember!
VMS Volleyball
7th grade Volleyball had a very successful season. The B team went undefeated and won district. The improvement from the beginning of the year to the end was impressive. The A team also had a successful year. They battled all year and lost some very close matches. Both teams showed tremendous improvement from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. The skills they showed were vastly improved. These girls will have a successful 8th grade year to look forward to.
The 8th grade volleyball teams had a very successful season. These girls fought hard through diversity and showed leadership and resilience. They have a lot to be proud of and we are very excited to see them develop and lead their high school teams.
VMS Boys Basketball
The 7th grade boys' basketball team has been working hard all year. We started the basketball season off with coaches and players out due to Covid-19, but the kids were resilient! We played some games with six and seven players but overcame adversity to work hard the entire game. The boys are continuing to get better every day.
The 8th grade boys' basketball season was a huge success. Throughout the entire season, the boys supported each other and worked hard to better themselves every day. They played every team to the best of their ability and represented Voss Middle School with pride. We are very proud of them as they continue to grow as athletes and young men.
VMS Girls Basketball
7th grade basketball started the fall semester quickly. With many girls new to basketball, they were able to show great improvement in a short amount of time. They have battled every game and are working hard to be great teammates.
The 8th grade girls have worked hard all season long. They have played tough games, overcame adversity and will be prepared for their high school programs because of it. We are very proud of this group of girls and we are excited to see what they achieve in the future.
Looking Ahead...
Tennis tryouts will start early March and soccer tryouts will take place in late March. More information will be available at a later date, as schedules are still being finalized.
Any students who would like to tryout for one of these sports will need to have a physical on file with the coaches. 2021 BISD Physical Policy can be found at the link below.
